Some of us don't have the luxury of having the time to do that shit.
You should say the same thing to the active sisters when you rush this fall.

Working up the nerve to say something is pretty impressive, but it would have been kinder to tell her that it was a fraternity instead of laughing at her later. I hope no one is rude to this poor woman who has no clue later.

Hey, nothing interesting like that ever happens to me!
However, something I think is funny, is that once about a year and a half ago, I left one of my DZ shirts in my boyfriend's room when I was visiting him. Apparently it reminded him of me, so he used to wear it around campus all the time...which is brave, really, considering it had a pink butterfly on it and Delta Zeta written in pink letters. Anyway, people used to come up to him all the time and say, "Hey, man, I didn't know you were in a fraternity!"

Poor poor Marty......
This reminded me of what happens all the time to me too, lol. I wear my boyfriends letters to the gym and whatnot and I -always- have at least one old guy come up to me and chuckle, "So honey, are you a Teke?". They end up being alumni from various chapters but we both get a kick out of it,

Oh I wait for the day I see a random jackass wearing my letters.
It's gonna be called "Bottle to the head and his shirt confiscated by someone who earned the right to wear them."
Seriously, if randoms wana use letters to pick up girls, can't he just use letters that aren't taken? Like, Theta Omicron Lambda or SOMETHING.

Angry!!!!
OMG I had to post this! I was in shock!
So I was working at Victoria's Secret today and this woman comes up to the fragrance section and I notice she has on a greek Eastern Kentucky University shirt. She looked rather, and I'm not trying to be mean - but I guess I am anyway, completely undone. The shirt was way to tight and she shouldn't have been wearing it, her hair was very 1980's -BIG- ......I could go on about the poor appearance of this woman, but I won't.
I ask her if she needs help finding anything, then I say "I like your shirt! Were you an Alpha Gam?" (B/c AGD was highlighted). She looked at me puzzled and said "what the hell's an alpha flam?" I said "no no Alpha Gam, Alpha Gamma Delta - its highlighted on your shirt" She looked down and said - "oh, no-what is alpha gamma delta?". "Its' a sorority" I said. "OH -**** no! I don't belong to one of those. This shirts not mine" She seemed rather disgusted, so I asked if it was her sisters. She replied with a no, she had no sisters. I stopped asking questions and politely walked away.
Can you believe that? She was so mad that I asked her if she was in a sorority when , hello she was in a sorority shirt!!!!

I know this is really old... but a similar thing happened to me last year with a guy!! I was on a retreat (not a Greek one) at this place way out in the woods, and I saw a really hippie, earth-spirit kind of guy wearing a Lambda Chi Alpha shirt. He looked like he was in his mid twenties, so I assumed he had graduated recently. I ran up to him really excited and asked, "What chapter are you from? My cousin's a Lambda Chi Alpha!" He looked really disgusted and said, "I'm not a frat guy."
So naturally I asked why he was wearing a "frat guy" shirt... turns out he got it at Goodwill. Morals of the story: 1) Don't donate your old letters, because you don't know where they'll end up, and 2) Don't act so incredulous if you're wearing letters and someone thinks that you're *GASP* actually Greek!
