I think it's more about going for the American-owned, American-made.

PM Mama and PiKa are both from Michigan. I think suggesting anything other than an American car is like blasphemous. lol.

At least that is what I ASSume.

YEP! I'm not that way, I own a VW and an ex-Ford brand but a lot of people who are from a UAW household would rather sacrifice their first born then buy foreign. There are parking lots in town with signs that say "No Foreign Vehicles", just to give you a perspective.

I think XM/Sirius is pretty standard too, as are heated seats, windshield washer fluid nozzles, side mirrors, etc. I mean, it's an option package available on just about any model of any car.

Not always the case. My Ford Escape Limited had all the bells and whistles other than heated leather seats. In order to get the heated seats one needed to get the Mercury Mariner, Ford just didn't offer that for Escape even though it's the same damn car

I went from a huge SUV (when kids were little and I was carpooling), to a smaller SUV (as kids started getting drivers licenses), to a little sports sedan last year (WOOHOO!).

I LOVE being able to zip into small parking spaces, speed through parking garages without having to worry about head clearance and hitting poles, ALSO - I only have to fill my tank once a month because my gas mileage has doubled (and I'm only driving myself around now).

I sometimes feel a little "small" next to a Suburban, but I also feel way cooler in my sports car It's taken years off me!!

Dang what kind of car do you drive that you only have to fill up once a month? I have to fill up mine every week, and I don't drive around very much---just to work and back.

I drive a Civic and only fill up once maybe 2-3 weeks. It's awesome.

wow, once a month fill ups... in my dreams! I only drive myself around now, but I've never gotten that good gas mileage. A sporty car does feel good now, even though I miss the carpool days (sometimes).

I have a little Lexus IS250. I think the reason I only have to fill up once a month is because I hardly drive now that I'm not hauling around kids. My work is within 5 miles, and I don't venture far beyond the neighborhood to shop, etc. Anywhere that we go that is far, my husband drives. (I'm like some granny, except I'm not in a Cadillac, and I look better in my car )

I got the car November, 2008 and I have less than 7,000 miles on it!

I got my Acura three years ago (just paid it off, woohoo!) and I've only got about 8,000 miles on it.

Of course, that might have something to do with the fact that I used to take the train to work, and now I work from home, so I hardly ever drive the poor thing . . .
