What do you make of this little situation?

So I met a pretty cool girl the past Friday. She gave me her number and she insisted that I call her. I've called twice now (Saturday & Sunday) and both times she sent back texts indicating she was busy. The tones of them were apologetic for being unable to return the call, and it seemed she was genuinely interested in getting in touch eventually. Today I simply just sent a text, not wanting to get sent to voicemail again, asking her a convenient time to call, and no response all day.

Should I give up on this? I don't know if it's worth the effort of calling a third time if she's really not interested (strange considering how we were interacting in person, plus why would she send back texts anyway? But it happens I guess). Any thoughts?

She's a nice person. She doesn't want to say, "Back off," but she also doesn't want to go out with you.

Just move on.

"She's just not that into you".

What is it with people registering to ask random relationship questions or go on rants in the politics forum?

Because they know they'll be entertained by the replies.

I wouldn't contact her again unless she contacts you. You have left the messages, she will either respond or she won't. The ball is in her court now.

Exactly.

If I know one thing about girls, it's that they get REALLY excited if a guy they like calls them. And I guess nowadays, getting a text from them is equally as exciting.

But she's too busy?

As the book "He's Just Not That Into You" says... "Busy" is another word for "Asshole." "Asshole" is another word for the guy you're dating.

99.9% of the time, when it comes to dating/relationships, "busy" = not so busy.

you called too soon, so she isn't interested in you anymore if you're that easy

next time, you're busy all weekend, and you'll call her when you feel like it on monday.
