So is it a program (bot) creating the user accounts, adding sigs and posting spam, or does it require a live person? Some of the spam are scarily close to topic. Do people who spam really think that doing so increases traffic and sales or is the point just to annoy?

The last time it was discussed was last March. We did all seem to arrive at a consensus of 'ya that's a good idea, let's do it,' but it's not been put into place yet. Couldn't tell you what the current plan is.
