More humorous stuff for lawyers: "Living the Dream"

It is a set of webisodes about working for a huge, prestigious firm in NYC. It is one of the funniest things I've seen on the net.

I know, right? Several of them made me choke laughing. But waiting for season 2 is soooo exhausting...

I found out a couple of days ago that I got an A on my upperclass major research and writing project. I've been working on it for 6 months, I'm glad it came out well.

Now I'm two final papers and an exam away from being a law school graduate.

Enjoy the lazy days of your last semester.

Also, if y'all are getting sold on doubling up on PMBR and BARBRI, I'd recommend just going with BARBRI for Bar Review. I did both and found BARBRI to be a lot better. The MBE review software they have is excellent.

I'd LOVE for them to be lazy days...but work has started giving me more of my own files, so less school work equals more 7 pm nights in the office (with homework afterwards). I'll just be glad when school is off my plate.

It's funny you mention the Barbri/PMBR thing - I just polled a bunch of my law school friends a couple of days ago, and 99% of them said the same thing. I'm taking the bar for two states, and people were almost universal in saying that Barbri was the best option. I'm not going to bother signing up for PMBR at this point (especially since I'm paying out of pocket, my employer isn't reimbursing me).

Random non-law student question:

I know that every state has its own Bar Exam.

Are they stanardized in any way? Are there any states considered to be more difficult than others? Is there a hierarchy of bar difficulty by state?

I'd imagine that just as state law varies, the bar exams are diffierent.

The answer to the standardized question is yes and no. There is a Multistate Bar Examination, the MBE, which is a part of the overall bar exam in most jurisdictions. It's a standardized, 200 question, 6 hour exam.

There has been a movement towards a standardized essay portion, and that has picked up some steam lately. For example, Connecticut is moving to the standardized essay portion in 2010. However, most states have a state-specific essay portion, which is based on the specific state's law.

Some bar exams are harder than others. I have heard that New York is the hardest because of the number of exceptions in its laws. I know that when people take CT and NY, they tend to focus on NY and just do supplemental studying on CT. I'm taking CT and MA in February, and I've been advised to spend most of the my time on MA.
