If you are where I think you are, there are legit reasons (having nothing to do with the size of the girls) that the NPC groups are not down with service sororities that are kind of before your time.

It's not a question of the girls in GSS being "open" - it's a question of whether you are going to be half-assing one group or the other. Unless your GSS chapter really changes how they operate, someone is going to end up getting the short end of your stick.

It is possible to do a service and a social, but not if the service acts really really a lot like a social. (This includes having mixers, participating in Greek Week [rather than reffing or helping] and being paired with fraternities in other Greek activities.)

If it seems to be a problem, stress the fact that you love doing service projects (why you joined a service org?) and are really excited to get involved with the social sorority's philanthropy. I personally love when pnms show interest in philanthropy and not just "being in a sorority".

As for your sercive org I think you said it best:

most sororities want their members to be involved in other things on campus besides their own chapter. in fact, in my sorority, some national awards require a large percentage of the chapter membership be involved in another campus organzation and a certain percentage of those to hold leadership positions in those orgs.

be sure to post your recruitment story for us to read in the recruitment stories forum. good luck!!
