I suggest doing a search on this site for "Georgia" and you will find alot of info.
In general, recs are pretty important.
I'm not a Georgia alumna, so I can't speak to whether out of state women are at a disadvantage or not.

My daughters and I have written about 5 million recs this summer and now we'll sit back anxiously and see what happens. This year we wrote the most for Auburn. When Georgia started the HOPE Grant, which gives free tuition to instate students with a 3.0, a lot of out of state universities worried that they would lose their Georgia students but it seems like even more are going out of state now, particularly to Auburn, Bama, and Ole Miss.
WARRRR EAGLE!! Good luck next week, Auburn girls!

I just stole these pictures from a friend on facebook - they're of Bid Day at Kappa Kappa Gamma at Georgia Southern. Their bid day was yesterday and I absolutely love the Alice in Wonderland banner!

Doesn't Kansas State's recruitment begin on the 17th, too? Lots of midwestern excitement coming soon, as well as what's already in progress.

Typical SEC recruitment - competitive. Out of state won't make any difference. But you do need recs for all houses...absolutely.
Keep an open mind and maximize your options (give everyone a chance). You'll find your place if you do.

Aw, they made the local news!! What a cute story that is. You don't see that on the news in Houston.

PNMs welcome to the University of Idaho for recruitment, where today there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms with a high of 65 today and the predicted low tonight is:
FORTY THREE
I can't ever remember it being this cold during rush. It is usually the hottest week of the summer and there is a serious lack of A/C on campus. If there's a freak weather change it could freeze which isn't good for PNMs or the current wheat harvest.

That's awful! I hope PNMs bought cute cardigans to wear with their outfits!

Vandals are a tough breed we've got four seasons here. I'd rather be a bit chilly staying in the dorm they stay in than sweating mercilessly as there isn't AC in that dorm or most of the houses. If nothing else it may prevent a PNM from wearing a hoochie mama outfit or getting a sunburn.
It is supposed to warm up into the eighties day time by next week, but we've already hit the high today (63). Even when it will allegedly be in the seventies Sunday and Monday it is still in the high forties low fifties at night. Since we're in the foothills of the Rockies the days can be warm but once the sun is gone it is cold until it comes back. The lack of humidity doesn't help.

I would kill for no humidity!
This is so interesting to hear about how recs are so important and how many you are writing. I am a member of our area alumnae panhellenic, and we have only had one request for recs this summer. The gal already had one from my chapter, so I didn't get a chance to write one. I think our chapter has received 4 for recruitment so far.
