DES MOINES, Iowa -- Ed Thomas, who has produced four NFL linemen as the football coach at tiny Aplington-Parkersburg High School, was shot and killed Wednesday inside the school's weight room.
This is the same community that was completely devastated by a tornado last year. Football is HUGE in that town. The coach has been there for more than 30 years and produced 4 current NFL players. That is a BIG deal for a town that's about 1,000 people.
My stomach just turns at the thought someone could do that, in front of other students no less. Thoughts and prayers go out to A-P and the coach's family.
