I recognize Ken in that video but back when I knew Barbie he hadn’t shaved his head. He has a long record of arrests for assault, arson, drug trafficking, possession of illegal machine guns, the sale child porn, mail fraud and the operation of an unlicensed chinchilla farm. He was working for her parents at the meth lab when the DEA raided the place but jumped bail before his trial and is now on the run from most of the bounty hunters in the South. It is only a matter of time before they track him down.

beauty queen (always beating out some persistent but unfortunate looking girl from Pearl, Missisippi)

Johnny Carson once did a routine about Southern beauty queens and wondered why they always had three names, like Kitty Ann Litter? I cried at that one.

Now I am crying at this one. I hope Barbie returns and has not let Chopper Mom run her off. That was hilarious.

My mother-in-law (97 and still going strong) had a cousin named Ruth Handler who founded Mattel Toys. Ruth had two children, a daughter named Barbara, whom they called "Barbie" and a son named Ken. Ruth eventually sold Mattel and passed away before we could meet her. I have tried to contact Barbara to no avail. I am sure she receives many letters from people claiming to be related, but I have the real thing, a genuine cousin who knows the family history. I hope she will respond one day.

Even though Barbie is originally from Willows, Wisconsin (as opposed to the deep South) she DOES have a three-part name: Barbara Millicent Roberts. Her decision to go by just one perky little name is a reflection of her ego. She decided long ago that she was on a par with Madonna, Cher, and other single-named superstars and dropped the rest of her name.

But what really kills me about this little tramp is how fake she is! I swear, every part of her perfect body is the result of expert manipulation. If there's any part of her that is not plastic, I'd be hard pressed to find it.

I love how everyone is jumping in on this. I would, but I'm not creative.

Oh, don't worry too much. I'm sure she just "got caught up" in something implausible (like college finals and move out in July - right?!) and will be back to continue her story sporadically over the next three months...

(emphasis mine)

To be fair, students in summer school may have just completed their finals. Those same students would also be moving out of the dorms now, too.

Barbie - please finish your story!

This thread is perfection. I'm thinking "this thing" has got to be that Barbie's great-great-great-grandmama was a Jems founder.

Fair point - I did decide not to call shenanigans in that thread so we could see it ride out. But really, the randoms always get caught up for inexplicable reasons and drag their stories on for weeks and weeks.
