Get a list of incoming freshman women, and have as many greek women as possible write PERSONAL letters and/or e-mails to the incoming women. Offer a pen-pal-type relationship, with the sorority women offering to answer questions, give the inside scoop, etc. They can talk up the benefits of rush. Doesn't even have to be the benefits of being greek, but of rush itself ... getting to know others on campus, learning about different philanthropies, etc. Interest them in the people, and their interest in rush will follow.
Maybe not this (as VS said, FERPA issues) but some schools have a mentor program for freshmen...get as many Greek members to be mentors as possible. If there isn't one, get a bunch of members of different GLOs together, grab a few prominent non-Greeks on campus (so y'all can't be accused of backdoor rushing, even though of course you are) and try to get one started.

dgtess, i have heard of this being done, but it was years ago. maybe the panhellenic officers and the recruitment counselors could do this?

otherwise, i would think that the panhellenic officers would need to read over the letters before they were mailed, to make sure that they were sharing general panhellenic information and not information that was specific to the author's particular sorority.

We were advised by our area NPC representative that we could send out mailings. Our school has a "daily digest" sent out to every student to their email so we put information about recruitment and our new website in there. I've created a rho chi facebook account too so I can communicate with PNMs while still being disaffiliated.

I just got my "I Heart Recruitment" book in the mail today! I am so excited to sit down and read it, thanks for the suggestion on that!

The housing situation at our school is ridiculous. Every summer we are fighting with Res. Life for our housing. We have met several times as greek life and had the Greek life coordinator try to speak to Res. Life about this, but they will not budge. I am hoping with our recruitment this semster we will push all the NPCs to at or above total.

Again, thank your for all the suggestions. If you have any more please leave them, I need all the help I can get!
