Sigma Sisters Getaway
From HQ:
How many times have you said, "I wish I could just get away for a few days with my Sigma sisters!" Whether they are the women with whom you shared your college experience, or Sigmas who are new friends that you have met through an alumnae connection: you now have the chance to participate in the first Sigma Sisters Getaway.
July 9-12, 2009 are the dates, and New Orleans, LA is the place. It was chosen as the destination because of its fascinating sights and sounds, award-winning restaurants, shopping (from antique shops to upscale malls), music of every kind, even a casino! The Country Inn and Suites, where a block of rooms has been reserved, is located in downtown New Orleans, within a few blocks of almost everything, and has offered us a very good room rate: $85.00 per night. There will be no organized tours or meetings, so you will be free to explore the city at your leisure. Several Executive Council members are planning to attend, so of course Tri Sigma will be a lively topic of conversation. Transportation to New Orleans will be arranged by each attendee.
Plan now to be "in that number", either with a friend or by yourself, and march to the New Orleans beat for this first Sisters Getaway. Specific information about making hotel reservations can be obtained by contacting National Headquarters (sigma@trisigma.org or 540-459-4212). Please put "Sisters Getaway" in the subject line. A limited number of rooms have been held for us; June 19 is the cut off date to qualify for the group rate. More information will be made available as the Getaway dates get closer. Information about New Orleans can be obtained online, and the hotel will offer tourism hints as well.
The dates of the Sisters Getaway in New Orleans are exactly one year from our next Convention, which will be held at the other end of the Mississippi River, in Minneapolis, MN. Let's celebrate Tri Sigma's 111th year together in an informal, relaxing way. See y'all there!
