Philanthropy Day
Hi Hi! I'm SO sorry for this obnoxiously long break. So much to do...so little time...I'm raising a puppy for a seeing eye dog organization and she ate my favorite pair of black stilettos. Let's just say I was quite unhappy. Anyway, I'm SO excited to update you guys! Hooray!
We left off where I was internally freaking out about Marie's comments that I had monopolized the actives and came off as rude and snotty.
Anyway, I got my list back and I was thrilled to see that I had a full schedule for Philantrhopy Day! Hooray!
First up....
Cherry: I was really excited to go back here today! Both Jena and I had gotten really good vibes from these girls. A different girl picked me up today than before, and I didn't have as great a connection as before, but it was still a pleasant conversation. I think I wasn't as impressed by the conversation because I was concentrating on their philanthropy craft so much. I really wanted to do a good job because I really wanted to impress these girls. When I finished the craft it was almost time to go. But then the girl hugged me and thanked me for coming! I was so taken aback by her hugging me that I think I left without saying anything...Shoot! Lol.
Honeydew:Boy do I remember this house today! I was so impressed by their philantropy. The girls seemed so legitimately into it. Their philanthropy video was really moving, and the girls seemed so invested in the cause. And their craft was so cute. I could really see how it could benefit their philanthropy. The girl I talked to, Ryah, was so knowledgeable about the organization and spoke so eloquently about how she was affected by it, and how she had grown were truly astounding and inspirational. Where I didn't really have a strong impression from their open house, I left this house feeling really inspired. Very, very impressive.
Cantaloupe: Again, I don't really know how to explain this house. The only word I can think of is...lovely. They were nice, their philanthropy was sweet, the house was beautiful, but I kind of felt like I was in a museum. I felt like everything was untouchable because it looked so pristine. I left with a so-so impression of this house. I still had yet to have a comfortable conversation. The small talk was very small.
Plum: The girl who I talked to while doing my craft was just...odd. She kept going on and on about monkeys, of all things. I had told her that I was going to be a puppy raiser for a seeing eye dog organization, and she was telling me about this organization that raised monkeys to assist the differently-abled. Interesting topic for a few minutes, but literally, that's all she would talk about. I tried to steer it away from guide monkeys but she WOULD NOT relent. I thought their craft was kind of silly, and I left this house not sure if I wanted to return.
Pineapple: Horrendous. Absolutely horrendous. The girl who picked me up was STUNNING, but would barely look at me, let alone talk to me. She was much taller than me and I literally had to lift my chin to talk to her. Everytime I would ask her something about their philanthropy, she would give me a really short, snippy answer. For example, I asked her if their philanthropy project today was for the national philanthropy, and she said, "Of course. Did you think it was just going to some random organization?" We had several more interactions like this, and by the end, I could not WAIT to leave.
Mango: I stayed on the look out for chubbie girls. Lol. Saw not one by my standards. I had an OK conversation, and the philanthropy didn't stand out too much in my mind. These girls were probab;y ranked in the middle of my list because they were so friendly, despite the lack of impression they left on me.
To be continued...

I would have absolutely freaked! IMHO, monkeys are only a little less freaky than clowns! *cringe*

philanthropy day 2 continued...
I was really excited for the rest of the houses because they were some of my favorites. But that also made me super nervous, because I didn't want to screw anything up...
Peach : Bri picked up again, so that made me really happy indeed! Their philanthropy video was so sweet. What I really loved was that the video was actual footage of the actives from some of their philanthropy events. The girls seemed so genuine, and they were all smiles - but what I liked was that it was very candid. None of that staged, planned stuff. I recognized alot of the girls, and they just seemed like they were having so much fun. I asked Bri if all the events were like that, and I loved her answer. She said that every day with her sisters was a new and unforgettable experience. I left ecstatic and absolutely smitten with this house. I knew I wanted to belong here.
Strawberry: A new girl picked me up, and she was sweet but seemed a little ditzy. While I did the craft, she kept going on and on about my pink hand bag, and how much she loved the color, and how vibrant that particular shade of pink was. It was SO strange. I mean, it was a really pretty shade of pink but it was just a weird conversation. I excused myself to the bathroom for a few minutes, and who did I run into but Rachel, Marie's friend. It was a very unpleasant experience. In short, Rachel told me I was stupid for cutting Kiwi because they were the only house that would take me because I was such a skank, and that maybe if I was lucky Grape would give me a bid ( Grape is a very nice house, minus the fact that they are small, though many call it the reject house). I was speechless. I had no idea what to say, and I was secretly hoping an active happened to be in one of the stalls so she could hear how mean Rachel was, but alas...no. So I just politely told her to mind her own business, and then I got back to my party. The rest of the party went off without a hitch, and Rachel's words didn't hit me until I was outside the next house.
Starfruit: Outside the house, my Rho Chi could totally tell that something was up. I was visibly upset, and I wasn't saying a word (I ALWAYS talked - I was such a chatterbox). I briefly summarized the Rachel run in (withholding names, of course!) and she was SO supportive. She basically told me to ignore all of that negativity - I had been called back to so many excellent houses for a reason, and not to let a stupid jealous girl who's parties were not going well to affect me. Anyway, I felt a little better, and went in to Starfruit. Since I was having the talk with my Rho Chi, I was late and felt kind of self conscious, but the girl who picked me up was SO SO amazing. She could tell I was really upset about something, but she didn't pry. She asked me about it, and I just said some girl had been really mean to me. She was so sweet and just said to keep my chin up, and not to listen, and that any house would be lucky to have me. I left this house feeling so much better. I was definitely ready to go on to...
Grape: It was really obvious how small this house was, but I tried not to let it affect my image of the girls. Some of the other PNMs were just downright rude to their active, but I made sure I engaged in the conversation and did my best to give them a fair shot. Overall, I had an ok time, but I really didn't connect with any of the girls, or feel particularly connected with their philanthropy. Last but not least...
Watermelon: Again, I just got the best feeling from these girls. It was so comfortable, and they didn't seem to conform to the formal recruitment etiquette. While I did the craft, I was in an informal group of three actives and three PNMs. Just nice, casual and natural conversation. I liked this house so much because it seemed like they wanted us to get to know them as an actual house, and not as their "recruitment profile", if you know what I mean. I left feeling great about this house!
Tomorrow, we would be returning to up to 8 houses. I ranked them as follows:
Peach
Watermelon
Starfruit
Cherry
Honeydew
Strawberry
Cantaloupe
Mango
Plum
Grape
Pineapple
Tell me all about your hopes and guesses!

Anyone know if there is a way to include a poll on my posts? I'd love to see everyone's guesses/hopes for my house!
