Sigma Nu Sweethearts
Hey guys, just thought I'd ask cause I met the last Sweetheart at our chapter.
What exactly is a Sigma Nu sweetheart? I never really got the chance to ask her, but she said she loved being one.

I think every chapter handles it a little differently. For us, it's always an award given at formal to the lady (a current student at our school with a certain GPA) who is the most supportive of our chapter. Usually, that involves being involved in Rush (some girls are more involved in our Rush than some of our brothers), involved in parties, being around the house, sometimes they bake cookies...
It's a serious business.

Sigma Nu Sweethears
Wow, a little late, but what the hell...My home chapter (Lambda Upsilon) just made four women sweethearts this last Fall semester, they were two girlfriends (my Big Bro's being one of them) and two other girls who have also been aorund the house for forever! They have been aorund for, well before I came in and have helped the chapter our so much. Three of them are or were in a sorority (one ZTA, one ex Delta Zeta and one in "Delta Zeta limbo" as she puts it) and the other a GDI. I love them all and I think the chapter did a great thing in making them sweethearts, an honor way over due if you ask me...actually there is one other who also deserved it but she didnt get it, but I think she should by the time she graduates as she was always doing stuff for the house in the last three years...plus, she makes some kick-ass brownies!...and cookies...

Our chapter had a ton of little sis'
Then at the end of the year at mtg we vote on a Sweetheart. She is then formally announced as such at the White Rose Formal.

Little Sis program? I don't know what you're talking about or why you'd say something like that on a public forum.....

color me confused.
All it was was a way for us to better honor the gals that hung around the house alot.
we would vote them in, and then have a small ceremony naming them Lil Sis' of Sigma Nu. Each pledge class would then have an initiated member as a Big Bro, and a Lil' Sis as his "Lil Sis".

Little sister programs are now verboten per our risk management policy as well as that of every NPC organization out there.

Well rest assured, we are not breaking any rules. Dormant chapter since around 1998 or 99.

Serious business indeed. One of our most heated meetings all semester was determining our sweetheart... We eventually settled on a kind young lady from A Xi D that helped us with a few of our major philanthropy events. <3 Janelle
Oh, and big/lil sis programs? I thought we just avoided those all together on the grounds of "incestual" relations between greeks in makeshift big/lil "families"... I didn't even realize it was part of Risk Reduction. Interesting...

We ended up having two sweethearts this year because after elimination brought us to two candidates the chapter ended up split 50-50 on the issue. Nobody had any actual objections to either one, so we figured "what the hell?".
As it happened, both girls were members of the same sorority. We all dressed to pin and marched into their house after their chapter and gave each member of the sorority a white rose, and gave the two winning girls nice bouquets. They loved it.

These were girls that supported our chapter through out the year and girls who even went as far as to put a bro in his place when we act like idiots (we have all been there). We can elect more than one in a year we vote in our last meeting of the school year and any lady can be placed on the ballot, the sweethearts are the ladies that receives more than 50% of the vote of the chapter. I think a few years back (2002) we had three. In the past they have been girlfriends, moms, sisters, GDIs, Sorority Women, etc... I am happy to say I married one of my chapters sweetheart from 2004. Being a sweetheart is a life long honor and she is involved with the guys even today. I guess I got lucky. (She is an Alpha Phi) She understands what is expected of Alumni so she never gives me a hardtime when it comes to helping the chapter out with time and/or money.
