Get some interesting info on your chapter. I always wanted to know more about Beta Psi, my chapter, and think you'll have members that want to know more about your chapter's history.

Hey!

I know this is something I'm going to do for my chapter.. (I am the FRED/STandards Chair too)...I'm going to play Family Feud with them about FRED facts....I'm going to put the bigs and littles together and split the chapter in half and try to think up some prize. Our group has a short attention span though...so I have to make it good! I had a standard last month and invited a friend of mine who is a makeup artist to do my face and give makeup tips. Just be creative...you kinda have to see where your chapter is and adapt things to fit them....for example....I sensed a lot of people being frustrated over school and feeling like their efforts weren't appreicated, so I made chapter awards that were funny and tongue-in-cheek for EVERYONE! For example: one was "ZTA with the Best All-Year Round Tan"--just cutesy stuff. Another way I like to do FREDS is to put a fred fact up on our voicemail number..so when my sisters call to find out what's going on for the week, they hear a FRED fact in the process. So, there's a lot of stuff you can do. Maybe type fred facts on small pieces of paper and tie them around suckers and give them to the chapter..etc. Hope some of this helped!

My p-sis was our FRED chair this past semester and she made really interesting slideshows about Longwood and the "First Four". (the 4 sororities that were founded at Longwood)

She also did a jepoardy type of thing and on easter hid eggs around the room with facts about how much money ZTA has raised for Breast Cancer Awareness and Education.

When i was Fred chair I did many things to make it interesting. One thing I did was when i was teaching the different parts of the creed i asked the new members to write down what they thought it meant so they put it in their own words and then it made them learn the true meaning of what each part of the creed is all about. So they were able to understand it better and then it was easier to remember.

When i taught some of the history like the story of the strawberries i found a way to reenact that story by having a sister come to the door with a basket full of strawberries and then i told the story. ( which was fun because it brought the story to life) I also did that with other stories such as the first meetings and a few others.

I created games... During easter time i made an egg hunt with plastic eggs that had a question in each egg. I told the new members to go on a hunt and try to find the most eggs as possible. After they found all the eggs they had to open it up and answer the question. If they did not get it right then the next girl got to answer. whoever got the most answers right in the end got a basket full of candy and little prizes.

Also during the fred meetings i would keep a board of how everyone is doing and if they all did well on the quiz that week then i would bring in candy or something little that had ZTA on it.

Also if you have enough girls (which i was not able to do when i was fred) ask the girls to pick a founder that is most like them or that they liked the most and then tell them to look at the mystifying picture and dress up in their own style that best represents that founder and then they would pose and they will get their picture taken. Then after that you can tell the girls a little bit about each founder and what they did for the fraternity and also the story behind the mystifying picture.

What i tried to do was make Fred a fun experience. If you show that you are excited about teaching Fred then they will be excited about learning it which in the end will make them respect and love everything about ZTA.

Hope that helped you. if you have any questions or want to know any more of my ideas I would love to help out
