Why is she still viewed as fit to raise these children?

Because poverty isn't enough reason to take kids away.

I seem to remember something about her being mentally unstable. Mix that with an inability to provide for her children (and herself, for that matter), and I think they're on the fast-track to disaster.

Yes, I agree with you in principle. The reality is that it is very difficult to remove children from a home without some major physical abuse or extreme neglect.

Neither poverty nor mental illness is enough of a reason to take kids away from their family. Unless they're being abused or neglected they're better off staying together.

Also, amazingly enough, this is what TANF is there for.

Nope. Not the same initial. They used the first eight letters of the alphabet.

My impression was that the birthing team of 46 staff used the letters of the alphabet to designate who would take care of which babies as they came out. So the nurse who was to take the first baby had an A on her hat, the one to take the second had a B, etc. I don't think those are their legal names, just what they were referring them to as they were born to keep them straight.

Maybe I am wrong... But, that's what FoxNews said when they covered them.

They probably misunderstood the hospital. It is standard practice to name multiples by consecutive letters of the alphabet until they are named.

Did anyone see this? The mother of the octuplets already has six kids, according to neighbors. She has four older brothers, and two sisters. This includes a set of twins.

Am I not seeing something here or is there no mention of a father?

The mother of 14 children lives in a house with her parents and her 6 older children and is fairly young.

W.T.F?
