That's especially cool, as is seeing the pictures of the Japanese-American sorority. I also like how all the chapter presidents had to take portraits wearing gowns!

The other thing that struck me was how in the descriptions of the various national sororities they mentioned the north/south divide. Like Chi Omega was described as a sorority that was founded to bridge the north/south divide, and ZTA was described as founded to fulfill the need for more sororities in the south. I thought that was interesting.

I too noticed that about Chi Omega.

I can't remember which one I read this passage, but they were talking about the sorority doing work in the "back-woods of Kentucky"

I have about 30 year books dating back to 1911 from Ohio State. In the 20s, they started to list passeges similar to what was found at UCLA. Even though I never saw the chapters pictured in long gowns, between about 55 and 65, crested blazers were all the rage in many chapters.

^^^LOL. I spend hours pouring over the pictures finding my friends parents and grandparents. I even found the Co-Chairman of the Board of the company in which I work (hmmm....black mail...he had hair back then).

Oh my goodness, those shorts are wild! And the nylons!

I remember having a pair of shorts like the girl second from the left is wearing. Ahhh...the late 70s/early 80s!

That's no joke. Those shorts are all over UT as well. They've totally made a comeback.

Unless it's just a Texas thing...

I like the SHORTS... but its coldd and windy in Lubbock right now, and seeing them with UGGS and leggings is annoying... almost as annoying as them without leggings and with UGGS. to each his own i guess.

Do you ever try to imagine what these young ladies would look like today at that age?
