More than one rec can't hurt, but you're cutting it VERY close timewise. The chapters are very busy this time of year, and if you send them after recruitment starts, there's a chance that they may not get them or they'll be misplaced. Recs should ideally be in BEFORE recruitment parties start.

I heard that a lot of girls drop to after they don't get their top choice, because it's deferred girls already know which ones they think they like or don't like going into it and aren't willing to change their minds. But I think that 100 or 200 girls still don't get bids.

I see. It sounds like the majority of girls just aren't maximizing their options or being open-minded.

Some information I have from last year showed that 87% of women who participated in bid matching last year received bids, and 128 women went unmatched.
I think that 128 unmatched is a huge number...

At my school 87% is a great number. We are lucky if 75% get matched.

I think it's a little interesting that she would be posting advice on formal recruitment when she didn't make it all the way through.
I suppose the intarwebs are full of "experts."

She was THE WORST. I actually got fed up and called her out at one point via PM (which I think caused her to declare that she was leaving).

I like how she tried to tell me which houses I had on my list. Um..I think I would know that better than anyone.
And especially being a sophomore..ha...she'll automatically be cut by certain houses. A person rushing the second time around?? HUGE RED FLAG.
I'm also pretty sure that the only houses on campus that might even come CLOSE to having 15 legacies in a house are SDT and AEPhi.
I am wondering if this is the girl who went through last year and didn't get houses back, went through open and got a bid, declined, and tried to start her own sorority..only to be on the list to rush again this year. I wouldn't be surprised if its her. It sounds like she can't handle rejection at all...or has a huge lying problem and can't stand to be called out on things.

I find it ironic that she put so much stress on being a legacy in her authoritative advice posts, but admits she is a legacy in her edited posts. But heck, VAgirl, you were only in a house at IU and she was a mighty PNM legacy who failed to even get a single invite to pref parties. What could you possibly know?
I trust that both my own sisters and my Panhellenic sisters will do the right thing during this recruitment as well.
I do have a quick question about your recruitment. Do the PNMs know which houses they are invited back to for the next round before they come back early from break?

Did that happen while I was on hiatus from GreekChat?

Hmm...come to think of it, I think she was rushing right around the time you were still posting. I think you weren't around when she starting dishing rush advice to PNMs -- despite not successfully receiving a bid herself.

I was in a sorority at IU. If someone asked me about the "live-out policy," it would have been a total turn-off during recruitment. I would be thinking--"You aren't even a house yet, and you are wondering about how to move out? Seriously?"
33 Girl, I didn't know of any house at IU (at least when I was going there) that would make a girl deactivate in order to spend a semester (or even a school year) abroad.
I can't think of a situation in which it would be a good idea for a PNM to ask the "live-out" question regardless of the context. There are too many girls going through recruitment who would give anything for the opportunity to live-in until they graduate.
My second least-favorite question was "What fraternities do you have parties with?"

I never said any of them would. I was asking if that would be an appropriate reason to ask about the live-out policy.
What if a girl's an RA and she has to live in a dorm? Does she have to forget about Greek life?
I looked at the info on the website and it says that the costs etc will be explained at the Greek Opportunities for Women thing - do they talk about living out? I mean the site shows the costs for each group, but several sororities do not include a live-out cost – I would kind of assume that means you are not allowed to live out if you join one of those groups. Is that assumption clarified during the registration period?
