I currently advise my chapter of initiation. We use to do the string maze around a local playground (sororities do not own houses on my campus) up until the last few years ... apparently it is a risk management issue. Recently the chapter has done a candle ceremony of some-sort but really wants to return the reveal to something more fun and active. I have suggested that they attempt a "Pop Party" this year (still waiting to see if it will be approved by headquarters). We've got a few dozen littles that will each be assigned a color/pattern balloon. The reveal room will be packed full of hundreds of colorful balloons with the bigs and other active members around the room's perimeter singing and chanting. Each little will have to take their assigned balloon color/pattern and pop it to obtain a puzzle piece (some balloons may even be empty) and put the puzzle or note together to reveal the big. I hope this works out in reality as well as it works out in my head.
