I'm still a fan of the NBA of the 80's and early 90's. (I'm not a fan of the current NBA.) So the Celtics-Lakers rivalry makes me warm and fuzzy.

You have no idea how I get chills thinking about the Celtics (and the NBA, in general) of the 80s.

My two favorite classic NBA games are the Bird/Wilkins scoring duel in '88, and the Jordan 63-point game against the Celts in the playoffs in 86. They used to replay those games on ESPN Classic quite a bit, and Dan Patrick used to host a show on ESPN called "NBA's Greatest Games," or something along those lines.
I was really young for both of those games (I'm 27), but I wish I had a clearer memory of when they were played.

ESPN Classic is a Godsend.
Your post is full of legends. I wonder how many legends will come from the new NBA.

Hmmmm...I'm trying to remember when I stopped watching the NBA like my life depended on it. To the point where I stopped caring and knowing who was in playoffs and championships, besides watching SportsCenter or seeing some NBA player on a celebrity blog.
It has to have been when Wilkins and other 80's NBA legends started retiring and so forth. The early to mid 1990s.
Ya know, when slam dunking and 3-point contests started sucking. I haven't watched these contests in years whereas these contests used to be a religion in my household. Just like playoffs and championships were a religion. My fav teams in order were: The Lakers, Celtics, Hawks, and Detroit.
