I'm rushing at MU!!! Very excited, but also nervous

My daughter started rush today at the University of Alabama. She was among 1600+ girls in 23 different groups...ugh! So many great girls I'm sure. She went to 9 groups today and will go to 7 tomorrow. She said it was a great day overall! She loved the crazy "door songs" each sorority did! I was excited by her enthusiam and hope the week continues to go as well!!! I'll try to keep you all posted.

Good Luck uamomma! My daughter was one of those girls in the crazy door songs. This is her first time on the other side. I haven't talked to her today, but she was really excited.

Has anyone ever posted a door song on You Tube? I've seen pictures, but silent pictures can't do it justice.

That would be cool. I guess it would be hard unless you had alums or Panhel people filming it - PNMs are the closest to the action and obviously they can't film it.

I saw a video of an AOII doing a door song after she inhaled helium. It was pretty funny.

The only one I've seen is a Kappa door chant... if you type "KKG Rah Rah" you should find it. It's kinda funny, its obviously a practice run, so in one part the camera girl is like "Don't talk!!!" lol

i am rushing this fall!! super nervous, but probably the most exicted person here! i cant wait for bid day!

OK...rush starts for my daughter today. I talked to her last night, and she was in great spirits. She's adjusting to dorm life and has already made lots of new friends. She's also changed up her "rush wardrobe" for the first of what I predict will be several times

She is a direct legacy to 2 sororities there, but since we don't really know anything about any of the chapters, she's actually going in with an open mind. I reminded her last night not to listen to what Susie or Jane had to say about this one or that one, and to follow her instincts. I'll keep you posted, and please keep your fingers crossed for her!

Just heard from my daughter....she was invited back to every sorority for philanthropy day. Talk about relief! She sounds good, had been to 2 parties already, had a lunch break, then back for more. She'll finish up about 10 tonight then do her picks. She's already said she feels like tomorrow the cuts will be heavier, so hopefully she's bracing herself for tomorrow morning, because as we all know, there is no perfect rush. If I get to talk to her when she gets home tonight, I'll have a better idea of how she feels about each one, so I can update tomorrow. Sounds like all her friends had good days today too, so that helps!

On another note, my Bama girls are doing ok. None of them had a full round of parties, but all got invited back to the ones they liked, so no huge disappointments there!

I heard from my daughter today before the Philanthropy parties began. She was so thrilled that she got back 11 invites. After all I've heard about recruitment at Bama, we were relieved. And yes, i do know it's only the first cut. I've told her to stay positive throughout the entire week and it'll work out the way it's supposed to.
