I rather think that most of the information was helpful and honest. If you ask for advice (which is asking a FAVOR, by the way), don't take offense at the feedback. Most of us took the time to look and read through that website. The suggestions we made were pretty important ones if you’re trying to attract college women to join your organization. Like with any advertising/PR/outreach, your first impression should be as flawless as humanly (or financially) possible.
If you feel we were bitchy, perhaps it’s because IN DOING THIS YOUNG WOMAN A FAVOR, she handed back attitude and then non-apologies for said attitude. Just sayin’.

SITY?
Actually, I am guessing this Rebecca, their Vp.
Tell your president ongrats on getting engaged, by the way. Does she intend to get married while still in college and trying to create a new sorority?

Yes i can be a bitch I said I wasn't.
There is a way to come across to people and obviously i know the way I did it was inappropriate. It upset me that everyone was jumping on the poor girl when she was asking for your help. Maybe you should consider how you speak to people, as should I.
Have a good day

If you feel the need to criticize people here in your first 3 posts, you're not going to like it here. You're better off where people poop rainbows:

Ok, I have spent quite a while checking out their site.
The glaring issue that come to me are the complete reversal of exploring and expanding your ideals (through longstanding club activities, ongoing academic excellece, sharing and spreading of "your word", allowing others to learn about you and accept who you are as a participating and respected member of the capmpus culture. vs. the recent trend of "I want to start a new sorority, here are our colors and mascot and our crest.
The next item I see, is the CONTINUED mispellings, misuse of quotation marks (THERE IS NO EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE - HAVE SOMEONE - A PROF, AN ENGLISH MAJOR, ANY ONE WITH BASIC WRITTEN ACUMEN - proofread and edit EVERY SINGLE PAGE, text box, dropdown boxes, etc. I can guarantee than any of the "smart" girls will notice this and look down upon the group as one who is sloppy and disorganized.
I checked out their registration form, and of course there are mispellings and many misuses of apostrophes. You ask health questions (conditions and medications are confidential, and should be up the to PNM to disclose anyhting that they feel might be necessary for people to know, but remember that it's a perosnal choice, an there are laws against discrimination based on handicap pr illness).
Rush schedule -a pledge is someone to whom a bid has been extended, signed and return. Therefore, listing pledge dues before someone has even looked at your recruitment calendar may be confused or turned off.
Your first event takes place off campus? Better have insured transportation to and from. Get permits from the town if you plan to drink. Get approval from your school if you plan to serve alcohol at a rush event (In NPC, this is a NO-NO). You are inviting PLEDGES (who are not pledges yet) and friends. Any why would someone have to bring money?
Day 2 - "House Party". Ia this co-ed? If so, consider changing it to female interests only. YOu don't want the girls to competing for the boys' attention."Semi-Formal. Bids will be given out after party hours" So one meeting is enough to decide who you want? What is the process for those waiting to hear? Do you vote then run around at 3 am? Set expectations early. Hope that they have an alcohol policy, bc I am SURE that they don't have insurance
Sept ??-08 - Initiation -> Semi-formal initiation Ceremony. All Delta Phi Nu pledges. Is this immediately after signing bid cards? Is there no new member enduacation?
Lastlty: "Officer positions will be open to ANY member at the end of September" So they are offering girls with zero infomation and experience, the chance to hold an exec role without any overhead? I know that many of our founfers handled these roles early on, but often (and is documented) that they had legal and financial experts helping them.
This is not to belittle you, but to save you further anguish while you work the first year of growing. You will make mistakes, but listen to the ladies here and read EVERY previous related thread. With only 4 girls on board at the moment, it will be a struggle. It might behoove you to begin researching and working with the school's exiting Greek policies, getting an advisor, and perhaps contacting some umbrella orgs to see if they can at least point you in the right direction. The way that things move these days, blowing it early on can be discouraging to existing and potental members.
Lastly, in all your communications -written, verbal, personal - LIVE YOUR IDEALS. It's called "living the ritual". The more people see you dedicated to your ideals, your reputation will grow.
Please listen to the girls here. I know that in other places (and FYI people here can read your posts and trashing this place will not win you friends), are more cozy than constructive, but building a new sorority is 99% business.
Any buy your own domain name site for 23 bucks!! It's so cheap!!!!!

You may want to pay for your own domain and hosting. I found the site as it is very uncomfortable to navigate. It seemed like there were links everywhere that had nothing to do with you guys.

I was reading through the "new" site and I was really struck by the juxtoposition of offering "etiquette" lessons, and holding the special sisterhood event "Jello Wrestling". I can't wait to see pictures!

GAH!
Two months later and the unnecessary apostrophe in Ideas still bugs the hell out of me.

Oh well, I wish them the best of luck (I think they'll need a lot of it!) .

Am I the only one who thought STG when I saw their coat of arms?
