that's really beautiful! when i was an undergrad, i didn't like the painted paddles so much. i think it was because i didn't have the skill to do a good job with them. but the examples in this thread have totally changed my mind!

Wow thanks for showing me these paddles. They're beautiful, i actually haven't made mine yet. I started making frames and boxes for some of my sisters, and other random crafts for my Big. I got the paint for my paddle but one of the colors was wrong, so i need to adjust the color and get started. sylviasushi27 your paddle is so detailed, you've inspired me to take my time so it's really as nice as i can make it.

Oh lordy, I'm in the martini family and this would be PERFECT. If only I knew how to make that little martini thing on the top... I'm awful with all crafts.

I would say draw it out and have a fraternity man cut it for you.

That's a Margarita, martinis look like this:
Margaritas will almost always have something on the rim (most often salt and a lemon or lime), REAL martinis will have a lemon twist, coctail onion or olive actually IN the drink.
For what it's worth, a martini glass should be easier to cut out than a marg glass.

Thanks, that does look quite a bit easier to cut!

Happy to help. You won't have to cut out the little lime, either - but maybe paint an olive, twist, or onion in the glass, if that's something you want to do. I suppose it depends on whether or not your family actually drinks martinis, and whether they like vodka or gin.
I'm pretty sure I'm over-thinking this - and I prefer a margarita to a martini any day.

Haha, yeah, it's a Margarita glass, because I'm in the Margarita Family.
And, we have Greek Stores that will do the custom cutting for us - so its a lot easier.
Now that I've shared the one I made for my Big, I'd like to share the two I received from my amazing Littles this past year!!
Wall-E Paddle!
You can't see the bottom, but the idea behind it is that its a heart-shaped Margarita glass!

These paddles are intense! I'm half tempted to post mine but the ones here outshine the ones any Greek at my school has done by a lot lol

My school the little made a paddle for the big, and the pledge class made for the NME and President. The NME assistant got a Teddy Bear plaque.
We also did a mini paddle exchange over one winter break.
This is one I made for the paddle exchange:
I made this for a sister that I met here on GC (I think) who never had a little:
Here are my paddles:
The three big ones, the one in the middle is from my little, the other two are when I was NME.
