But then the preposition is wrong--it should be from....Either way that sentence is grammatically jacked up.

Apart or A Part?

Apart
is normally used as an adverb. It can be a part of a preposition when joined with the word from.

A part
is a noun.

Example: The shed blew apart in the storm. (Adverb)
Example: I saw no one apart from you. (Preposition) Example: The motor is missing a part of the flywheel. (Noun)
