Congratulations! I know this is a little late, but I'm new to GC forums and just checked this thread out.
I hope you love Pi Phi as much as I do (I'm a new member here! This week is actually I-Week!).

I didn't go through formal (or informal) recruitment so I have no clue how it works yet. But I've read enough so I have some idea. Seems pretty exciting!

I thought you were tricked into going to a COB event...? That's informal in my book. Even if all you did was go to dinner with a few sisters and then you got a bid, that is the definition of informal IMO.

Yes, your school does do partially structured informal recruitment the beginning of the spring semester (which they just started last year), but COB events are still considered "informal" recruitment. So, technically, you were given an bid during informal recruitment whether you knew it or not.
I know you mean well, you really do, but you're posting things that you don't really know much about and it doesn't necessarily do you any favors.

How about you just grow up a little bit and represent yourself like the adult you are? Yeah? Okay.

We're not saying don't post. We're just saying stop and think before hitting submit. Ask yourself "is what I'm posting relevant to the discussion? Does it add any new information or a different viewpoint? Can I back up my statements?"
As you learn the atmosphere on GC, you'll adapt. A lot of newbies go through the same things you are WRT backlash from more experienced members. And in the end, it's just the internet, nothing more, nothing less. There's no need to get huffy over some type on a computer screen.
