The spin is a little different in the broadcast trades.
Discovery had a failing network (Discovery Health) and approached Oprah's organization about programming or running it.
That's a little different than "launching her own network" -- at least in the normal conotation of the word in the broadcasting/cable business.
Still a large tribute to her and her company, I think, although I'm not much of an Oprah fan, personally.
Oxygen, the network she presently owns part of, has it's master control/playback facilities in the building in which I work, and the company I worked for before the one I work for now built the facility.
