			I'm kinda sad about Tim Russert. I had really just started to get into him. I have watched a few times before, but had started feeling him more this election season. I was so sorry to hear this news. The fact that Father's Day weekend and he had just gotten back from celebrating his son's graduation makes it worse.

Is his dad, "Big Russ" still living?

			Big Russ is still alive. He lives in Buffalo (where Tim is from) and I believe they just moved him to a assisted living facility. Tim's mother passed about a year or two ago.

One part of me that makes me sad from all of this is that we've lost a lot of good journalists the last few years (Russert, Ed Bradley, Peter Jennings) and we're left with some really crappy ones (not I'm wishing harm on them). I'm still heated on Faux News calling Michelle a "baby mama".

			Jury Finds R. Kelly Not Guilty
After three weeks of testimony, a jury has acquitted the singer on all counts at his child pornography trial in Chicago
Buzz up!More

All AboutR. Kelly

(FROM AP) - A jury acquitted R. Kelly on all counts at his child pornography trial on Friday (June 13), during the second day of deliberations. The singer was accused of taping himself having sex with a woman the prosecution claims was as young as 13. He faced 15 years in prison, if convicted. The case went to jurors on Thursday after three weeks of witness testimony.
Cook County Prosecutor Robert Heilingoetter's case revolved around a videotape he alleged shows Kelly having sex with a teenager as young as 13. The tape was shown in court as the prosecution tried to portray the singer as a person who preys on young girls.

Ultimately, the jury seems to have been more swayed by defense attorney Sam Adam Jr.'s argument that the two people seen having sex on the tape are not who prosecutors say they are (both Kelly and the alleged victim deny it as well). The defense suggested that the Grammy Award-winning R&B singer is the victim of an extortion plot and cast doubt on the prosecution's contention that a mole seen on the man on the tape matches one on Kelly's back. The defense called an expert who testified that the mark looked more like a tape glitch than a mole. ''That means it ain't him, and if it ain't him, you can't convict,'' Adam said in his closing arguments. The woman who testified in Rrrrrrrr's trial speaks to Essence:
http://www.essence.com/essence/themi...6207-1,00.html
Some of it had me . Some people felt like she wasn't telling the truth but I believe her. I hope Rrrrr does like Michael and finally leaves those young girls alone.

				Vogue Italia's July Issue to Only Feauture Black Models

RACIAL prejudice in the fashion industry has long persisted because of tokenism and lookism. “We already have our black girl,” says a designer to a fashion-show casting agent, declining to see others. Or: “She doesn’t have the right look.” Laziness, paranoia and pedantry may also have something to do with the failure to hire black models for shows and magazine features in any meaningful number, but, hey, that’s just a guess.

			Next stop for "Soul Train" is new ownership
By Kimberly Nordyke
Wed Jun 18, 2:23 PM ET

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Don Cornelius has sold his "Soul Train" franchise to MadVision Entertainment, a multimedia company specializing in branded urban content and production.

The deal gives MadVision production rights to the weekly "Soul Train" series along with a catalog of more than 1,100 hours of archival footage from the show's 37-year run.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When a new company takes over, the outcome is never good. I hope they don't completely revamp and totally ruin Soul Trainmore than it already has been.  It was hard enough watching it through the Shemar Moore years.
 To me, it went off the rails when Don retired.  And at one point, the only reason I watched it was to look at Shemar.     I don't think they should make new Soul Trains.  Kids now look at TRL/106 and Park to find out what's hot.  But I do enjoy the reruns as well (if I can only stay up until 2 am to watch them).
 I called the major bookstores here (san francisco) i.e.  Borders, Barnes and Noble and some major independent bookstores also (Stacys, Fog city, etc..) and I finally got on a waiting list at Fog City News. They called me 15 minutes ago and I ran (seriously) down there and picked it up.
As far as I'm concerned, it was worth the wait
ETA
This photo is one of the more "tame" in the book.
One more thing. Naomi is on the cover
