Could you get them to do something about the quality of network programing on TV? Or even Jorts? I'll take what I can get.

I just wish you'd ask them to do a better job of it.

Edited out because I don't feel like getting in on this right now.

"Old"? 43? Jeez. Tough crowd. Let me grab my walker.

Here's the deal -you (or someone else) may mean it as a joke. Others may not receive it as such. It's not about being pc, it's about respect. It's also about context - while your fraternity brother might not take offense to being called a "frat", a Greek from another campus or org might. So the smart, dare I say it, MATURE, thing to do is to NOT use any terms which might be misconstrued in a group which you are not 100% sure shares your sense of "humor". The final analysis of whether a term is offensive or not rests with the "butt" of the joke. However hilarious you find it, if the person who is a member of the group doesn't laugh, too, you've missed the mark.

I'm actually much less offensive in real life. I think.
I doubt you're offensive at all in real life for what it's worth.

And I also doubt that those of us who rush in here to warn, snip, argue, or advise would be nearly as officious in real life either.

It's a message board, so it's what we do here.

I started an informal "poll" on Greek Life, as I know there are many fraternity men who wish to stay on topic here.

Why do you guys invade a thread that's about a) Southern b) fraternities, at c) large SEC/Big12/ACC schools, when none of those 3 criteria apply to you?

In all seriousness, no one cares about your input and opinions on these topics since they have nothing to do with you.

Send a message via AIM to banditone
Except that DTS gal. She would know all about large southern fraternities

Um, no doubt you've got some grounds to complain about the discussion, but this thread is really only about one of the three things you listed. It's nominally about rush mistakes at ANY institution.

Reading is fun!

If you look at the title of the thread, it states quite clearly ANY institution. And I know it is a shock to you, but there are institutions of higher learning that are not in the SEC. Once women are no longer involved in fraternity recruitment I guess you can argue that they have no insight to share. Perhaps they aren't at your campus - but they are at others, and some of us have served as Greek Advisors at various campuses, so have more knowledge than you know.

If you don't like our posts, feel free to put us on ignore. Ta-da! No more annoying posts for you to read.

And you are a little late - when the topic got way off base, I started a thread over in Greek Life. So you are whining about a problem that has been solved. Threads go widely off topic - it's the rare thread that doesn't. If you want to get a thread back on topic, post a question or statement that addresses the op.

I'll agree with that.....although if you get highly offended by the term "frat" you need to reevaluate your life.

lol - I never got why it was important to some, but it is, and so I never use the term.

To be honest, the only time I've seen someone get genuinely offended by the term was on here. Go figure.

This is true of 95% of the issues I've seen people discuss here, with the possible exception of the News and Politics forum.

I've never even known two people to have a conversation about Alumnae Initiation in real life, and yet, to go by GreekChat you would think it was one of the most controversial aspects of Greek Life.
