UC-Boulder

Is there anyone out there who can give us a report on how Beta Upsilon at UC-Boulder is doing?
  • Recruitment trends
  • Social life
  • Sorority relations
  • Campus relations
  • Intramurals / sports
  • Alumni relations / advising

For those that don't know, the fraternities on that campus decided to disaffiliate from the school. They operate independently, maintain their own interfraternity council and have hired a "greek advocate" (in place of a greek advisor).

This continues to be a significant experiment and one that every fraternity should be watching. It will answer, can we succeed on our own?

I hope someone out there (NIC?) is putting this situation under the microscope.

We should all have "greek advocates" instead of the "greek life professionals" who try to enforce control over every aspect of fraternity life.

According to the latest Summrer 2007 S&D, Beta Upsilon has 72 members. They've generally been over 100 the last few years, and in fact they advertise their "100-Man-Chapter" award on the IFC site. Not good that their numbers are down.
Looking at the other fraternity websites, Sig Ep has 80 members, Sigma Nu is small, Theta Xi is small. Kappa Sigma and SAE have both recently recolonized.
Pi Kappa Phi has 120 members. That's where our numbers should be.
