that's what i was thinking - at 88 chapters (whatever the # is) they'd have to be part of some governing council.
wouldnt being part of NALFO work counter to being part of NPC, as far as which rules to follow and what not? i guess that is sorority-specific, because fraternities can be part of 2 councils without issue, right? (only example i can recall is Alpha Phi Alpha being part of NPHC/NIC)

Isn't Kappa Alpha Psi and Iota Phi Theta also members of the NIC? I think the difference is that NIC is different than NPC in that NPC orgs have all agreed to run membership recruitment within a specific system, while NIC hasn't (please correct me if I'm wrong NPC'ers). So given that Sigma Lambda Gamma's recruitment style is more similar to NPHC orgs, it would probably be difficult to switch to a different style if they became members of NPC.

Lambda Sigma Upsilon, Lambda Theta Phi, Phi Iota Alpha, and Sigma Lambda Beta fraternities are all members of the NIC as well as the NALFO. Why couldn't a sorority be a member of both councils (NPC and NALFO) if so allowed?

Did not realize this as it used to take 15 years to become a member of NIC.
Times must have changed, but I am in no way knowledgeable about NPC!
It usually takes a long time to get into any National Governing Body.
What was the last Sorority that was accepted in NPC?

What happened in 1951? Did NPC change it's admission policy that year?

Would joining NPC help people's membership to grow? I'm not sure how the recruitment for non-NPC works; I know the Divine Nine, on my campus, do "if you are interested, you contact us" for recruitment and do fairly well. But wouldn't being able to be a part of formal recruitment help? Or can non-NPC groups participate in that?

This pretty much hits the nail on the head.

1951 was the year that the former members of the AES became full members. There are only 3 left out of the original AES 6. That same year 5 other groups were admitted, several of which had a religious foundation.
