I don't think MysticCat was necessarily trying to make a point.
Maybe he was just pointing the existence of the earlier threads for information purposes. They
could still be relevant.
Most people who are making the point you are referring to tend to come right out and say it, no holds barred.
"Reading too much between the lines" is often the culprit in things get blown up much more than they have to be.
