After all, DST and AKA have a shared history. I guess we will see what happens when "BSP:The Genesis" is released....
AKA owes DST naught.

Question You've missed the point...

I don't believe she said AKA owed Delta Sigma Theta anything, nor does DST owe Alpha Kappa Alpha anything. The issue is lending support to your fellow NPHC member organizations when an issue arises that threatens the validity, purpose and history of the organization. The Black Sorority Project is a prime example of someone doing what they wanted regardless of the wishes of the governing body of the organization. My interpretation of her comment is what will happen if the Genesis project comes out and your governing body is not happy with what is depicted?

Why would AKA have to lend support to DST because it lended support to APhiA? I would much rather petition to the governing body of the NPHC and ask for a formal statement of some sort. If it's that serious.

Maybe The Black Sorority Project touched on a touchy subject to which AKA didn't want to issue a formal statement. Maybe AKA's have Lyle Love and wanted to support Alpha. The "maybes" are endless but hopefully the concern over why they didn't lend their support isn't.

If AKA's governing body isn't happy with what is depicted in The Genesis, they will handle that. Maybe DST won't lend its support to AKA then. Not out of vindictiveness but out of a conflict of interest. Maybe.

Right. And AKA doesn't owe anybody our support. If we decide to give it good for AKA. If we don't decide to give it, good for AKA. ~shrugs~

When Genesis comes out and AKA is not happy with it, AKA will advise members not to support the film. And AKA will do so without EXPECTING other organizations to support our decision and have our backs so to speak. We got this.

Thumbs up UPDATE!!

Stomp the Yard” Producers Address Concerns and Contribute to MLK Memorial
Sorority support of Alpha Phi Alpha aids successful resolution
International President Barbara A. McKinzie, who stood firmly with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in its denunciation of the film, Stomp the Yard, and its producers, announced that a successful resolution had been reached.

To the satisfaction of the Fraternity, producers Rainforest Productions, Sony Pictures and others revised the film to exclude references to the Fraternity. In addition, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Inc. and Screen Gems agreed to make a donation to the Washington, DC Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Foundation Project, Inc.

McKinzie noted that, although the filmmakers were members of Alpha Phi Alpha, they had not observed the fraternity’s written policies and protocol to obtain legal permission to commercially use the Fraternity’s symbols and trademarks. This action led to the fraternity denouncing the film, a position supported by Alpha Kappa Alpha.

McKinzie applauded Alpha Phi Alpha and its General President, Darryl R. Matthews, Sr., for their leadership in galvanizing the Greek community around this issue and for the diplomatic follow-through that resulted in the accord.

She also directed members of Alpha Kappa Alpha to read both memorandums from Mr. Matthews to gain a full appreciation of the legal violations that prompted the initial call to action and the eventual resolution.
