During the Thanksgiving break, my daughters and I visited this museum in downtown Cincinnati on the banks of the Ohio River. It is a moving experience. Its central message is a narrative of the Underground Railroad and the secret network that helped bring many of our ancestors to "freedom."
To stand in the re-constructed "Slave pen," an acutal house (originally used in Kentucky) that held slaves awaiting their transportation to the deep south, was moving beyond any words I could use to adequately convey it here.
It really was an educational and impactful experience. We were there three hours and still did not take everything in. Any GCers, or anyone really, in the greater Cincinnati area or traveling through, ought to consider stopping in.
It will give you some things to think about.
