Dumb question about single intentional preference...
We all know that a single intentional preference (colloquially "suicide") is a bad idea and makes it less likely that you will get a bid.
But what about a "double" intentional preference at a campus that allows PNMs to attend 3 pref parties?
Example: A PNM is invited to 3 pref parties: A, B, and C. She is in love with sororities A and B, and would accept a bid from either, but she would rather chew glass than join sorority C. She attends all 3 prefs because she has to. When she fills out her pref card, she ranks sorority A followed by sorority B, but does not rank sorority C.
Is she penalized the same as if she SIP'd? (ineligible for quota additions, etc)

If the requirement is that she maximize her options then I think she'd be penalized.

She would be ineligible for matching as a quota addition.

Would this be at a school where the PNMs are forced to attend all pref parties they're invited to? I started a thread on that once--I hate it when they do that.

I believe that as long as she has more than one selection on her card, she would not be penalized. However, I'm not sure if she'd be eligible for QA or not. I would think she would be, but I always look on the bright side of things.

This is a hypothetical question. For the purposes of this question, yes, she has to go to all the parties she's invited to; if she's invited to 3 prefs, she must show up at all three. But she doesn't have to rank all three sororities on her pref card... just as a PNM who attends 2 prefs (where the max is 2) and is willing to join only one of the two sororities can SIP that sorority.
I have no personal experience with such a scenario. At my school, there are 5 NPC sororities, and the maximum number of pref parties you could attend was two, hence, this particular grey area (attending 3 prefs and listing 2 sororities) could not occur.

PT, what would be a penalty other than not being eligible for QA? I thought that was the penalty.

Snap bids. Although I think there's the same requirement for snap as QA.

Yes, the penalty for SIP is not being eligible for quota additions. She would be eligible for a snap bid unless there is a local by-law that prohibits it. There is nothing about this in the UA as far as I know.
If the girl only attended 1 pref, then it is not SIP. Just wanted to clarify because that has come up before.
