Extension opportunities

Exciting news that you may have read on other threads but I wanted to share the news that Pi Beta Phi has been invited to present at TWO campuses!!

We will be presenting at Carnegie-Mellon University January 24th. CMU is in Pittsburgh PA (GO STEELERS... sorry, couldn't help myself there). There is a local sorority that is seeking NPC affiliation.

Second is the chance to recolonize the DC Alpha chapter, one of our very old chapters that has been off the rolls since 1968. The presentation at George Washington University will be in February. This would be an expansion due to increased interest in Greek Life at GWU.

Please be thinking of our extension team over the next month. These are great opportunities for new chapters!!

Thanks for the heads up about the article!

It always made me really sad that DC Alpha was no more--I was always aware of their presence through the awards endowed in their name. Plus DC is so close to Lexington and I lived a summer in DC as well. Honestly, if I'd had to choose any chapter to recolonize it would have be DC Alpha or one of our South Carolina chapters! So YAY.

I haven't seen official word, but more than likely the chapter would be in Region 4 (Virgina, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama) but could also be in Region 1 (West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Vermont, Maine) . Remember we don't have provinces any more.

While new chapter colonizations are fun, and special, the recolonization, especially of a very old chapter is even more exciting. I'm can't wait to see what they'll do with the Parade of Chapters at next convention. They usually introduce new chapters at the end (chapters are presented in installation order) but DC Alpha was originally aound #12 (I only know that trivia because one of the chapters I worked with as CPP was the last one installed as IC Sorosis). They currently have a generic banner, as do all chapters dormant since we started the Banner Parade at the Orlando convention but will finally have a personalized one in Phoenix. This will be a big installation event with a lot of special guests. It should be very exciting and that chapter will be lucky. There are some very strong alumnae groups in the DC area.
