Volgirl isn't a stereotypical or typical Southerner, but she sure is the stereotypical fratty.net crossover poster.

Actually, I saw her name and my first thought was that it was a play on the word "vulger"! lol I thought, "Who would advertise that???"

I'm not. It's just hard to convey sarcasm and I was afraid if I spelled it correctly, she would think I meant it.

You're making an equality that is not there.

I'm not saying all southerners = stereotype that is volgirl

I am saying people who type like volgirl = Southen stereotype

Gotcha. I quoted the last post before I posted, but perhaps I should have quoted one of the earlier ones.

If you mean I was making an equality that was not intended, rather than "not there," I can accept that.

The subtle distinction between "not there" and "not intended" was, I suppose lost on me with the question "You're from the south, aren't you?," the instructions on how to find places on a map north of the Mason-Dixon line (if they're there at all) and the statement that "Southerners [not "some Southerners"] like volgirl stereotype themselves."

MysticCat, I live in Charlotte, NC. I have seen first hand Southern stereotypes, but I do know that most people down here are not like that. The instructions for finding Alaska were meant specifically for volgirl, because from her posts, I'm not really sure if she knows Alaska is part of the US, or if 2+2=4, or that gravity is what causes her to fall on her ass all day when she trips over her own two feet. And I'll amend my statement to say "Southerners that are like volgirl stereotype themselves"- that was the intent of the statement.

That's why at the museum they make freeze-dried "Space Ice-cream". It's pretty dang nasty.

Thanks.

And complete sideline -- have you been in Charlotte long? My brain had you geographically placed in the Southwest. Did I just complete assume you had ties to/were from the Southwest? (And yes, I know what it makes of me when I assume.) Or did you move fairly recently?

Regardless, glad to have you among us. [/sideline]

I've been in Charlotte for about 2 years now, but I'm originally from Peoria, IL. I went to Western IL for school. I'm not sure where the southwest came from???

I really have no clue. I could scour back through all of your 3173 posts to see what in the world made me think you lived in the Southwest, but I think I'll pass on that. Maybe at some point I confused another poster with you. Maybe I'm just an occasional idiot. (That's a rhetorical statement requiring neither confirmation or denial by others.)

Of course, Charlotte is somewhat in the southwestern part of North Carolina . . .

Okay, I'm grasping now.
