You mean you prefer the company of your pledge brothers to others? Because I do.

That, and certain aspects of my personality cooled down, and others heated up. Plus I learned a lot and have a different outlook on my University.

This is what I heard from a few of my non-Greek friends when I was pledging; that they had friends who changed (not for the better), that Greek life changed who they were, etc.

I can say I changed, but that was more of a growth in maturity as I went through college. Becoming friends with people from other parts of the country, getting involved with the operation of my chapter, doing volunteer work, juggling school with work and fraternity responsibilities: those were the reasons why I changed, and reasons why I think a lot of people "change" through their Greek experience.

More plainly put, People will assimilate with those who they are with.

If they hang with BEMs, they will act like BEMs!

Maybe I'm just ignorant, but what's a BEM?

I've been wondering that too. He's keeping it a secret.

I had never heard BEM before a few days ago reading a Piers Anthony novel. (I'm a big Sci-fi nerd and somehow didn't get around to reading him til recently). While I don't know if this is the same usage, in the book BEM was used (by a regular old 20th century American girl) to mean Bug Eyed Monster.

The details of the usage involve interdimensional travel and different evolutionary paths, but that's not needed here!

Yes I am!

Maybe one of these days I will let it Slip Out!

Just to show how assimilations may not work.

A Young Man who was a New Associate with one of Our Chapters was held back a semester and He was going to quit.

I found out the reason as I know the Advisor there. He would rather have been with His H S Buddys and miss funtions. He was a Townie.

So, He was held back. When He became more involved with The Chapter and The Members, He is now A Brother of Said Chapter.

Thumbs up folks changin

People would in any case change while going through the tumultuous college years. Being a part of an organization brings in alot of positive elements often missing during the late teen-early twenties.
