Being single and being lonely are totally unrelated. Being single simply indicates that you are not in a relationship and being lonely is a state of mind. There is nothing wrong with being single. However, when individuals view their singleness as an issue they are often lonely. People have to understand that being with someone does not entitle them to happiness. There are many people that are married or in relationships that are very lonely and unhappy. It’s unfortunate that individuals believe that their happiness is tied to another person or a relationship. Happiness comes totally from within. When people understand that their happiness is not based on a person, relationship, or anything else they have reached a point where they understand where true joy and happiness comes from. That source can only be God. When we have Him in the proper place we understand that He is our rock and He is the only one in our lives that will consistently love us unconditionally and give us everything we need. Knowing this gives us joy and peace, which eliminates the feeling of loneliness.
