For ST and lil sunshine....Shaq an reserved officer (AP)
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051209/...NlYwN5bmNhdA--
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Look out criminals, Officer Shaq is on the beat.
Shaquille O'Neal was sworn in as a reserve police officer Thursday, with the Miami Heat center choosing to skip a public event in favor of a quiet, no-frills ceremony.
"Officer O'Neal is very considerate toward the other officers, and he was afraid if he was there he would have taken away from that moment for other officers," department spokesman Robert Hernandez said. "This is a very special time for them and their families."
The former Laker was a reserve officer in Los Angeles before moving to South Florida. He spent the past year training as a Miami Beach police reserve officer and can now add the $1-a-year salary to his $100 million, 5-year contract with the Heat.
The 7-foot-1 player will be able to carry a gun, wear a badge and make arrests, but with his celebrity status he most likely will not walk a beat or go undercover. He will work as time permits in the volunteer position.
O'Neal has said he is most interested in working with the special victims detective unit to help stop crimes against children.
"He made it clear when he decided to come to Miami Beach that he didn't want to just be a poster boy for photo ops, he wanted to get down and dirty and do the job," Hernandez said. "He's here to conduct investigations and to make arrests."
And in September he did just that. After seeing a man throw a bottle and yell anti-gay slurs at a passer-by, O'Neal trailed the man and helped an officer arrest him as a hate-crime suspect.

R&B Singer Tevin Campbell Joins the Cast of B'way's Hairspray
R&B singer Tevin Campbell will be Hairspray's next Seaweed J. Stubbs. Current star Chester Gregory II will leave the hit musical on December 11. Campbell is expected to begin performances two days later, according to a production spokesperson.
Campbell has very little acting experience. His television credits include one episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and a guest appearance on Moesha. He rose to prominence in the music world when he was just eleven, appearing on Quincy Jones' 1989 recording Back on the Block. Prince wrote the song "Round and Round" for Campbell shortly after that. The single went gold, with Campbell singing it in the Prince film Graffiti Bridge. His next single, "Just Ask Me To," from the Boyz in the Hood soundtrack, was also a hit on the R&B charts. His debut album T.E.V.I.N. was released in 1991 and became a big hit, spawning the successful singles "Tell Me What You Want Me to Do" and "Alone with You." His follow-up album I'm Ready went double platinum and featured the hits "Can We Talk," "I'm Ready," and "Always in My Heart." I'm Ready proved to be his recording peak--his subsequent albums Back to the World and Tevin Campbell were less successful. Among his other credits is the benefit album A Very Special Christmas 2, which also featured a tune by Darlene Love, who will play his mother in Hairspray. In 2001 Qwest released The Best of Tevin Campbell.

This is interesting news, considering how bad Tevin looked on those recent pictures posted on here. Also, I LOVE Haispray, I hope he turns out to be a good choice, considering his limited acting experience. It takes a lot of talent to perform and do well on Broadway.

I've actually read that he was a cop before, but it was when he was in LA.

I heard this on the radio yesterday! Good for Tevin! But considering it's Hairspray (which I do like)...

This tickles me. I can't imagine trying to commit a crime and seeing Officer Diesel coming after me. On the other hand, as the article said, he's far too recognizable to be an undercover po-po.

Oh no!
Pathbreaking Comedian Richard Pryor Dies
LOS ANGELES -
Richard Pryor, the caustic yet perceptive actor-comedian who lived dangerously close to the edge both on stage and off, died Saturday. He was 65.
Pryor died shortly before 8 a.m. of a heart attack after being taken to a hospital from his home in the San Fernando Valley, said his business manager, Karen Finch. He had been ill for years with multiple sclerosis, a degenerative disease of the nervous system.
"We loved him and will miss you," his ex-wife, Flynn Pryor, said from her Florida home.
Pryor was regarded early in his career as one of the most foul-mouthed comics in the business, but he gained a wide following for his expletive-filled but universal and frequently personal insights into modern life and race relations.

Does anyone know who Jawn is talking about? (BV Buzz)
Can't Say Names…
Sources say the soon-to-be ex-wife of a Hollywood talent-no, not the 'Nutty Professor'-is calling around town trying to get people to save her marriage. The estranged wife is pulling out the big guns too, using Bible scriptures, Christian views on divorce and an alleged terminal illness survival story to earn the sympathy of those she contacts. The husband had apparently decided to end his troubled marriage after meeting and falling in love with a popular Tinseltown comedic actress.
We know it's not Eddie. He's with Shawn Robinson of Access Hollywood. But who? Babyface's wife?
