My problem is that I could plan a convention, but I don't have the monetary resources to book a room and all that comes with it, and even if I was active, my organization does not have the resources either.
I have never attended the convention (and therefore not sure how they run, who is invited (i'd assume everyone that's local, but even accessing those resources would take time and have to be comprehensive), but I've planned many events before, so if someone has more information and an idea of how we'd come up with the funds, i'm all for it

ive never been to a convention myself but i figure it would be something each group paid for individually? And all the locals would just come together to meet one another, share advice on recruitment and such.... I would think the only thing a collective payment that would be needed would be for the hall or room we would all meet in... And then of course there would be things for all of us to do with one another... i dont know what im saying

My sorority went to the one in cleveland and i think we paid about $150 for the group to be able to come. All the sessions were held on the schools campus, some of the girls stayed int he dorms. I know we stayed in a hotel that we payed for ourselves.

Sigma Psi organized the last convention. I remember requesting the info packet from them and passing it on the sisters in my chapter (i was alum at the time). I didn't attend, but I was super impressed with the materials I received and how well-planned it looked. Because everything was help on-campus at Case-Western, the costs were really low. I would reccommend getting in touch with Sigma Psi to see if they could be of help to whoever wanted to plan this year's convention.

Wow, blast from the past! Several of us from Phi Alpha attended the 2006 convention and had a really nice time (and I'm still in touch with a number of girls from other sororities we met there). If they're still doing these I'll pass the info on to our current eboard!

Yes, there is a local sorority convention coming up. There was one last year too. I saw it mentioned on the local sorority love tumblr. It's being organized by Theta Alpha Lambda at SUNY Plattsburgh.
