Exclamation New Fraternity Imitating Iota!

Wassup Frat,

This was brought to my attention by a brother and I thought I would share it with you all. There is a new African American fraternity recently founded for gay and bisexual men. It's name is Lambda Phi Theta. That's not the catch though. The thing is, the history and wording they have displayed on their page is strikingly "similar" to the history on our pages of our national website. They even had sweet hearts but they have since become a lesbian sorority. And wouldn't you know it....their history sounds a lot like the history of ours and Mrs. Brooks (Lord rest her soul). You can read this at their respective sites www.lambdaphitheta.org and www.phithetadelta.org. Tell me what you guys think of this. Personally I think it's appauling. Whatever their sexual orientation is is of no concern to me, but at least be original!

"These young men wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence and to provide assistance to persons in need".

I didn't read enough to find similarities with IOTA because the above stopped me from reading any further.

That is obviously DSTish.

I guess you can through us in the ring too.

What struck me is that the founders of the fraternity and the sorority are all men. I get that it is a LGBT organization--but what is that about?

this confused me too When i clicked on Phi Theta Delta sorority and saw it full of men i was

ETA: Ok, no longer confused. According to the history Lamdba Phi Theta (the frat) had 2 sweetheart groups - one for men (yes, I said men) and another one for women. Both theses sweetheart groups combined to form a sorority for 'a fem or stud/butch/dominate view woman". Don't know where the guys fit in, but I'm thinking they were members of the original male sweetheart group.

But they are the same men, and the sorority--which was first a sweetheart org--was founded after the fraternity. What, are they their own sweethearts. That's different.

This is just confusing.

Exclamation the similarities are there

FROM THE PAGES OF PHI THETA DELTA SORORITY INC.

"during the foundering of lambda phi theta, we were blessed to have an invaluable ally in the person of mrs. Jeronica Byrd. She played a crucial "behind the scenes" role for the fraternity. In many instances, her actions and influences prevented the fledging organization from being victimized by those who would loved to have seen lambda fail."

sound familiar frat?

from the national history on www.phithetadelta.org

for others reading this thread and don't quite get it, compare these two quotations.

"during the foundering of Iota phi theta, we were blessed to have an invaluable ally in the person of mrs. Audrey Brooks. She played a crucial "behind the scenes" role for the fraternity. In many instances, her actions and influences prevented the fledging organization from being victimized by those who would loved to have seen Iota fail."

taken from www.iotaphitheta.org

Like I said before, I'm not mad or trying to cause any trouble...just wanted to point out the striking "similarities"

I see the two similarities as you point them out now, but I don't see either organization "imitating" IOTA.

Exclamation MY FAULT

FRAT I KINDA MIS-WORDED MY POST. WHAT I WAS TRYING TO GET ACROSS WAS THAT THEY USED OUR WORDING AS THEIR OWN. NOT THAT THEIR ENTIRE ORGANIZATION IS IMITATING IOTA. JUST THAT THEY COPIED AND PASTED OUR WORDS ONTO THEIR PAGES AND CHANGED THE ORGANIZATION'S NAME. LOL. I'M NOT MAD OR CONCERNED. I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA HUMOROUS AND INTERESTING.
