The "Runaway Bride"-Your Opinion
It's a great thing that she is okay.
Should Jennifer pay a price for all of the time, effort that was used to "find her"?
My mother would have beaten the natural brown off of my behind.

Absolutely!
I think at the very least she should be charged for the man hours searching for her by officials.
And if I was her fiance, I would be seeing a lawyer, because I would be suing her for breach of contract, pain and suffering, and lost wages. An engagement can be seen as a contract, depending on who you are asking. And America is Sue Happy, so why not? I think he would win.
GCers, If it were a juried civil case, and you were a juror, what would you do?

She should be forced to pay back to police for their time and efforts. I also think she should spend 30 days in jail and with that time get some much needed counseling.
I'm glad she is ok, but this whole situation could have been prevented had she just talked with someone she was close too. Shoot, when I heard the whole thing I had already tried and convicted the fiance (it sounded to familiar to the Laci Peterson case.)
When I think about the number of people that are really missing and have been missing for years and this women pulls something like this and get media coverage almost immediately, it just makes me so mad.

I feel she should be charged and jailed. If she needed to run away--fine. But to lie about being abducted--no.

Re: The "Runaway Bride"-Your Opinion
Yes, she should be required to pay for the time and effort used to find her. I was watching this news show one day and there is a law in a county in a state out west that requires rescued folk to pay for the municipal services rendered to rescue them when they don't abide by the rules of the road (such as when a road is closed due to possible storm damage and they drive on it anyway and then have to be rescued from the water or something when their fool selves fall through the road/bridge).
I think that she should have to pay for the services in Atlanta, New Mexico and whatever the other state in which she was searched.
Honestly, I am annoyed beyond belief. If you are going to run from your wedding, fine - but don't create a silly hoax, worry everyone to death - and then try to pin the kidnapping on a hispanic person! That makes me just as mad as the stupid AA girl who sent hate mail to other AAs and Latinas on her campus here in IL so that her parents would think that it was not a safe place for her and let her come home. BOTH HER AND THE RUNAWAY BRIDE NEED THEIR -SSES KICKED!
I'm about to revert into Cedric the Entertainer on Kings of Comedy ... I wish one of my relatives *would* pull some mess like that. The runaway bride mess was just childish and silly. Goodness, if you don't want to get married, just say so! I know that it's easier said than done but many things are. At some point you just have to be a woman about it...that's with *anything* that's hard to do. I'm disgusted.

Yes indeed! The police chief said that she couldn't be charged with a crime because GA doesn't have laws against an adult taking off of thier own volition. HOWEVER, they MUST have some kind of law that they can use. When I think of all those poor people who are really in trouble and this clown has the nerve to say, "I didn't know that the nation was looking for me," well, I am too through.

If she and her family have enough money to throw a wedding with 600 guests and 14 bridesmaids, not only should she pay back whatever monies and man-hours were used to "find" her, she should buy the Duluth PD a new fleet of Jaguar police cars.

On top of paying back all the Law Enforcement fees, she should have to refund guess for the travel cost they spent to get to her wedding. Also, if I were a guess and couldn't take back my wedding gift I would be selling it to her.
Does anyone else think that her finance is gonna forgive her and after all of this they are gonna get married.

I think she needs a psychiatric evaluation. How sad that you have to fabricate what she did just to cancel a wedding and save yourself the embarrassment of it all!

I agree. In most jurisdictions people can be charged with filing a false police report. Remember ol' girl in Ohio who "lost" a winning lottery ticket?

LMAO!!! Folks got jokes on GC this morning! Plus, I'm still deaf from the Lenny Kravitz concert that I was at last night, so I'm really not sure how loudly I am laughing in the office.
