TRL ending in November
NEW YORK (AP) — Time to start the countdown clock on MTV's countdown era: "Total Request Live" will soon leave the air after 10 years.
Full article here.
Perhaps if they had focused on music, they'd be sticking around. I hate what's happened to MTV, so hopefully losing some of its staples will encourage the network to get it together.

About friggin' time. They show 30 seconds of music video. The rest of the show's filled with pimply faced teenagers screaming about whatever teen idol's it right now.
I remember watching 1-800-DIAL-MTV as a kid. That was cool.

I never truly watched TRL. M'eh.
MTV jumped the shark so long ago I can't tell you when I stopped watching.

The last time TRL was good was when Carson was still on, Justin was still with N*SYNC, Britney was still claiming she was a virgin, Fred Durst and them were still screaming for the nookie, Diddy was still Puff Daddy and Marshall Mathers had a beef with everybody.
Does anyone remember when Total Request and Live were separate shows?
MTV has jumped the shark and VH1 isn't too far behind.
*channels Archie and Edith* Those were the days...

Agreed.
I thought Limpbizkit was quite possibly the coolest thing on the planet.

Thank. God.
Any word on what they're filling the time slot with? I can only hope and pray it's another insipid spin off on My Super Sweet Sixteen or Laguna Beach.

Wow. I hadn't realized it's been 10 years. I feel antiquated and whatnot.

It's about time. I ceased to watch that show aeons ago when I realized that 1) They hardly show any videos and (2) the 30 seconds of video they air is lame and not interesting to me.

Maybe they will replace it with a show about Heidi and Spencer planning their wedding and buying a house.
I pray for that because any couple who does a show like that on MTV breaks up, and I would love to not see her fake rack and his flesh colored beard on tv.

ha ha ha. I love that I don't have to actually watch The Hills because I hear about the flesh colored beard all the time. We were actually discussing it last night before we went out! LOL

Lol, YES!!! I haven't watched regularly since probably 9th grade or so. I remember being geeked over the world premieres. It would entrance me that everyone in the whole world was seeing the vid for the first time all at once (like everyone else rushed to the TV after school to watch Joey McIntire's new video ).
I'm a little sad to see it go because it was such a childhood staple, but seeing as how it "went" years ago, m'eh maybe not.
