sorry I offended. it wasn't my intention. I'm just as nervous as anyone going through the process.

I guess we won't know until you give it a try ... can't win the lottery if you don't play!

Nobody on here is going to be able to tell you the chances of receiving a bid at ANY college/university. Like Kansas City said, until you give it a try, we won't know. Good luck!

Are you that wonderful?!
I'm sure the women of the Purdue chapters are looking for accomplished, attractive women who want to give something to their chapters. I highly doubt that they go around cutting women because they are jealous.

Just remember to keep you mind open to all chapters. We can't tell you your chances... but they are 0% if you don't go through recruitment. Life is about taking deep breaths and just jumping in. Good luck to you.

(and remember to have some humility)

There will always be those who are intimidated by your hotness.

Honestly, no one here can really tell you your chances of getting a bid at any school, because the process involves alot of different factors. The best thing you can do is go through recruitment and see what happens.

With so many sororities at your school, each of them has a variety of different types of girls in them and you'll find that not every girl in a sorority is totally pretty, promiscuous, or someone who drinks alot.

I'd recommend checking out our advice threads though, there's some good recruitment advice in them.

gosh meanness

ok, any girl who has had relationships, knows that there are mean and manipulating girls out there. I am not "wonderful" I am insecure at times, otherwise, I wouldn't have been honest and posted a question that ran across my mind. I'm sure others have thought the same things too. there are numerous reasons why girls don't get bids, but I was hoping that the reality tv and in your face mentality wasn't among the sororities and I was just asking a question....

All of these are attractive qualities for any PNM on any campus to possess, but I STRONGLY caution you to exercise some humility when visiting all of the sororities. While you definitely should point out your personal strengths while talking to the women you meet in the sororities, if you speak about yourself the way you did in your initial post, the members may not take too kindly to it. I found it to be somewhat off-putting, and I feel that some of the members would take it that way as well. Choose your words thoughtfully and carefully when speaking with active members, but still try to have some fun in the process!

Please don't take my post the wrong way - I wish you every success in your rush at Purdue! I'm only trying to give you some pointers.

And if you think of it, please post your recruitment story in the Recruitment Stories thread - I don't think I've ever seen a Purdue story!

I'm sorry I even posted. nevermind. I wasn't a homecoming queen, a cheerleader, or any of that stuff, and I work hard...I'm not a princess - worked a job in high school. I'm sorry I came across as arrogant, that wasn't my intention.

Hey, bachon. Better to make a mistake as an anonymous internet poster than in recruitment! DOn't worry about it. Yes...recruitment can be hard. You will never know why you were cut, if you are cut. Honestly, though, sororities really do want good women like you described.

According to the Purdue Panhellenic website, there are 16 NPC chapters and 5 sororities that are associate members of Panhellenic. SDT (according to their website) and the 5 associate chapters do not participate in formal recruitment. Quota last year at Purdue was 36. 36 x 15 chapters participating in formal recruitment = around 540 women got bids, depending how many chapters made quota/how close they came/if there were quota additions. So no, you're not up against "thousands". Around 800 registered last year, but keep in mind, the vast majority of the women who go through recruitment and end up bidless do so because they dropped out.

Re: attractiveness. Different chapters emphasize looks differently. I seriously doubt a chapter would cut you for being too pretty (because, shallow as it sounds, it makes them look good in the eyes of frat boys to have good looking sisters--but if your looks are all you have to offer, you won't be successful), but check your "don't be jealous of my hotness" attitude, or THAT could get you cut.

Having good grades puts you in a good position. You said you are smart. I don't know if that translates into a good GPA or not.

I don't think most chapters would frown upon not drinking. They might frown upon being antisocial if that applies to you. Still, even if you like to stay in, there should be a place for you, especially with as many chapters as Purdue has.

No one here is offended by your post, we're just trying to explain recruitment and help you understand the process a little better. The fact that people are saying that we can't determine the odds for you is not being mean. We just can't determine that because the selection process of every sorority is private. We were just letting you know that it is not something we can discuss.

I understand that you are nervous, but I'd take a step back from posting and just read some of the advice threads posted above, they'll help you alot.
