Chapter Storage and Meeting Places

Hi everyone! I hope this is the right forum for this posting. I was hoping to get some help. The chapter I advise will be losing thier current meeting and storage places in a campus wide renovation. I was wondering where everyone's chapter met/meets and how storage needs were/are met. Thanks so much! I will share what is posted here with the other advisors for the other sororities!

Don't they have a house?? I thought they did.

We always just met in campus classrooms. If it's a meeting with things that are not to be seen by the general public you can put paper over the door windows.

We met in lecture halls for chapter and meeting rooms for most of our ritual events. Improvisation was required but it always worked out fine. As for storage we always had a chapter room provided by campus. I'd suggest storing stuff off campus at a willing alum's house rather than on campus in someone's apt. Renting storage is a possibility though.

Nope, just a suite that will be torn down in May. It's a shame. I'm gonna take some pictures of the suite so that the chapter has a record of it for their history.

God, I thought the state schools kicked everyone out of suites ages ago. We haven't had them since the mid 80s.

We just met in academic classrooms. As far as storage went, most of the things not needed for weekly meetings was in a commerical storage unit. Just don't be like Paris Hilton; remember to pay the bill....or ritual stuff can end up on the internet- like her passport did.

When We demoed our old house @ 3 years ago, many Alums went down and pulled all important items out of the House. I took everything that had to do with old early day items and kept them at my home.

A local Alum took the Ritual equipment at his house.

Anything such as furniture, composites, Big Paddles, etc, were stored in town at a storage company. The Alums paid for that and made sure it was kept up byt the House Corp. Treasurer.

Even though, while we have a new house, the Advisor felt along with the Chapter to continue to meet in a room at the Student Center just to get away from the House into a more formal setting.

If your Chapter is in good standing, I am sure you will be able to have a room to meet in. I suggest it be set up with the Greek Adviser.

Hope you can find something soon as it is nice to have a place for all members to come and hang a bit if they can.

Not knowing your schools size or where, I know some GLOs can work a deal where they can rent a part of an apartment complex so they can be together.

The very best of luck!
