AQnother Tree Problem

Sorry but do not remember what airport is was at, but a Rabbi complained that if Trees were up then a Menorha (?) should be put up.

They took the trees down instead to show no prejudise.

The Rabbi recanted and the trees went back up.

Some of this is getting so over the top.

Maybe we need a martian invasion to pull people of this damn world back together.

ET are you out there!

There has been a lot of outcry over the Christmas Tree incident in Toronto. The president of the Canadian Muslim Congress and Canadian Jewish congress both said that they thought the removal of the tree was ridiculous. There was also a protest outside the court house over this.

The airport was SeaTac (Seattle/Tacoma).

When I was in school, I was a tour guide, and there was a Christmas tree in every room except one. I can't help but wonder if they still do that, or has that lovely tradition gone away, too?

Once, I had a tour of Girl Scouts, and in the first room, explained how they will see the various Christmas Trees & Traditions in each of the rooms. I did my spiel, then asked if there were any questions. One little girl put up her hand and said, "We're all Jewish." Thinking quickly, I pointed out that the ornaments in that room happened to look like dreidels! *whew!*

I don't think he "recanted" as much as said he never meant for them to take the tree down -- just that he would like to see a menorah as well (which, I believe, he offered to donate). I saw an interview with him -- he was not happy that they had taken the tree down.

This is exactly what happened - he asked for a Menorah, the airport agreed, they checked with assorted organizations and attorneys, who noted they should give other traditions 'equal time' in presentation.

The airport decided this was too much work, and decided to pull everything down. The chain of decisions is pretty much ridiculous, but not the initial request, IMO.
