Angry Mayor Nagy

Sorry, but I have tried to find the Mayor of New Olreans Nagy (?) Statement of Making it a Chocolate City. He has since refuted it, but is that Racist or is it just Me?

I think I remember someone making a funny statement about giving Candy to people coming back. Chocolat Candy like Hereshy Kisses as it were.

If this Moron is not Bigoted and Racist, then who is?

New Orleans is and was not all Black, there was a Mix of Peoples.

It still grates me to see this still in the New Media but He said it and it was taped. Oh, I think He mentioned that God Will Protect the Blacks who Re-Populate N O.

Elections are mandated by law to come up soon.

If He was such a Sweet Person in a Corrupte City, then, He should worry about His job.

He's the juicy nut in the middle of the chocolate.

PS: He's gotten the election postponed. Wonder why?

I don't know why he would even fix his face to say something like that. He needs to step down. He is incompetent anyway.

He follows in a long line of "interesting" (colorful?) New Orleans/Louisiana politicans.

He probably fits right in.

You're telling the truth on this one.

DC, isn't all black and as far as I can remember it's always been called Chocolate City for obvious reasons such as New Orleans. Now was it appropriate to use slang while addressing the nation, maybe not, but I don't think he meant it to be offensive.

Probably not, but still a poor choice of words under the circumstances.

Under what circumstances? That New Orleans is predomaintely African American and those that lost everything there were predomaintely African American? I don't think he was saying no other races allowed but he was speaking to the citizens of his city that play a major part in keeping the city alive.

Given the makeup of the audience who heard it.

Even he says it was a poor choice in retrospect.

Those that lost everything there include whites which died at a proportionally higher rate.

I'm pretty sure I didn't make the statement that African Americans in New Orleans were the only Katrina victims.
Also According to LA Homeland Security all of the identies of the victims haven't been released to provide and accurate numbers.
67% of African Americans and other people of color were affected by Katrina in N.O.; 28% of the populationlived below the poverty line 84% of whom are African American. African American's are disproportionatley poor in N.O. But again my point is that is wasn't that surprising that N.O. was referred to as Chocolate City or even DC, just as California is known for its blondes.

"Statistics released by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals suggest that fewer than half of the victims of Hurricane Katrina were black, and that whites died at the highest rate of all races in New Orleans. Overall for the state, 658 bodies have been identified. An additional 247 victims have not been identified."

That was the most recent count I had seen in December. For a city that is so "Chocolate", it's strange that the "White-Chocolate" died at a higher rate. And it's also even more strange that people are referred to as "Chocolate" outside of strip clubs.

Actually LA Homeland Security says that according to the recent counts of people IDENTIFIED there were more Whites that died but once the others were identified the numbers could change. Also the fact that more whites possibly died as opposed to African Americans doesn't discount that New Orleans populations is 67% people of color. Which means more people of color were affected by Katrina in deaths and over all total loss.
Also I'm not saying that anyone that lost their love ones or lost their livelyhood and personal belongings shouldn't be treated the same no matter what color. But the fact remains people do refer to N.O., DC and some other predomiantely African American areas are Chocolate City and this has been happening for years and it's not discounting another.

Let's turn that around have have a white mayor say something about returing a city to predominatly white.

I wonder how far that would fly, and how the media would have a field day with that.
