Billboard Music Awards 12/6/05
NEW YORK (Billboard) - 50 Cent, Mariah Carey and Green Day are the top finalists for the Billboard Music Awards, which will be handed out December 6 from Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena, and broadcast live on Fox.
Rap legend LL Cool J will host the event, which will boast newly confirmed performances from Gwen Stefani and Daddy Yankee with Pharrell.
50 Cent is a finalist in eight categories, followed by Carey with seven and Green Day with six. All three will vie for artist of the year and album of the year for "The Massacre," "The Emancipation of Mimi" and "American Idiot," respectively. The other album of the year finalist is Eminem's "Encore," while Kelly Clarkson is the fourth artist of the year finalist.
Green Day is also a finalist for group of the year, along with the Black Eyed Peas, Destiny's Child and the Killers. In the new artist of the year category, the finalists are Stefani, Fantasia, the Game and Rob Thomas.
Other multiple-award finalists are Fantasia, the Game and Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz (four), Stefani, Clarkson, Eminem, the Killers and Destiny's Child (three) and Snoop Dogg featuring Pharrell, Mario, Ciara, Foo Fighters and Nine Inch Nails (two).
Tom Petty will receive the Century Award and Kanye West will be bestowed with the 2005 Artist Achievement Award at the ceremony. Green Day, Toby Keith, R. Kelly and Carrie Underwood will also perform.
----------------
The winners are based on what happened on the charts. If you keep up with them, the awards will be predicable (hint, 50 and Mariah will clean house).

Did anyone watch this?
For the most part, it was boring. They need to start making awards shows more interesting.
To Mariah: I thought you were laying off the short dresses. I hope you didn't drop anything. I still love you, though. I also love the quote when you talked about dreams. I was really feeling that.
To Gwen: What was that on your head? Whatever that was should have been left at home!
To 50 Cent: Show up to awards shows that you know you are going to win at. Watch, come Grammy time, you're going to be complaining you showed up and watched Kanye and Eminem win the awards you should have won (which is what exactly is going to happen). And why you were promoting that movie in Europe? No one in America saw it so why do you think they want to?
To Ugly Ricky: Who told ya'll to perform with Ashlee? Please sit down somewhere!
For those who picked the girls in the R. Kelly performance at the pool (he performed twice): I hope ya'll checked ID.
To Uncle Charlie: Just because you hang with R. Kelly and Pharell, doesn't make you a smooth pimp.
To LL: I know you thought you were at a concert and were trying to hype up the crowd but there was no hope for them.
To Carrie Underwood: Where did you get your boots from? They were OFF THE CHAIN!
And last, but not least...
To Ye: I LOVE YOU!!!!
Signed,

Carrie Underwood was the best vocally last night...she never looks comfortable on stage but she can sang
I know this is weird coming from me but I actually thought Pretty Ricky was not bad at all.... .. now Ashley Simpson should have never bothered to show up(that was horrible)
LL was such a distraction.. he has TOO much energy....
I wanted Charlie Wilson to actually perform...
R. Kelly is the most DRAMATIC performer.... it's sickening...

Ha!! Why was I watching this last night with my boyfriend and I was like I hope Jitterbug is watching this! He said "Who in the world is Jitterbug and please tell me it's not her name". Then I had to explain everything. He thought I was going crazy.

Yeah, I was watching! I was watching it with my mom and stepdad. She kept saying "What's Kanye trying to say?" My stepdad and I kept telling her that's the way he is. And I was LMAO when he walked out, doing his best George Jefferson strut!
Co-sign on RBL on Carrie. I still love those boots. Also co-sign on LL.
My mom asked if Gwen had rollers in her head!
Don't feel bad Gina...I have to explain to my mom too about my GC family!

LL looked great.
Gwen sounded great.
LOVED LOVED LOVED Carrie's boots, but wasn't feeling the song.
The show seemed boring to me. Yay for Mariah's continued success, but PLEASE get another sylist, girl!!

Kanye is a trip. I can't wait to see what stunt he pulls at the Grammys. Gwen Stefani looked a hot azz mess. I love me some Gwen but at one point she did look like she had on a robe with curlers in her hair. SMH at her HAM

Why is Nick Cannon looking like a preppy yet anorexic Easter Bunny?
