Have anyone tried an organic turkey?

I was just wondering about organic turkeys. If any of you have tried it, what does it taste like?

Organic as in what? Not farm raised? Then yes I have and before anyone talks shit killing a turkey isn’t the easiest thing to do in life. Especially in my family, where anything but bow hunting is considered “unsports-man-like.” Oh and it taste like turkey and I am fucking wasted.

Organic = easily getting dumbasses who will believe that somehow this turkey is REALLY different to pay like twice what it SHOULD cost.

Organic is a term used more for vegetables, fruits, and herbs. It means that no harmful pesticides were used and it does cost more. Why? I don't know.

I've heard of free-range eggs and chickens. You could put turkey and beef in that group too. It's supposed to mean that they are free of extra hormones were fed to the animals and that can be sensitive to some people. Again the price goes up.

More vegan type people could explain this better.

My SIL cooked one on Thanksgiving a few years ago. It was not good, but I don't know if I would attribute that to my SIL's cooking, or the organic-ness of the bird. Most of us ate the fried turkey or the smoked turkey that was picked up from the regular grocery store (yes, we had THREE turkeys that year!)

Organic according to whose standards? Farm Aid's is much stricter than Congress's.

What it should mean is that the bird was raised on organic grains (which have not been fertilized with raw sewage - more common than you think), without the use of antibiotics. Free range is another part of the spectrum - it doesn't have to roam free to be organic.

I've never had organically raised turkey, but I've had organically raised beef. The best description I could give the beef is that it was so tender, it tasted like beef flavored butter!

I've never had organic turkey, but my family buys organic chicken all the time, and there is a huge difference in taste between organic chicken and nonorganic. The organic one tastes a lot better.

I've had "soy turkey" and chicken and such. Yeah... it's not as good as the real thing.

But I don't know if that is what you mean by organic. I don't think there would be a difference.

organic means that it has no preservatives or anything... all they did was kill it (without chems) pluck it and wrap... while most turkeys are given stuff to preserve and make it juicy or whatever
