Where's the outrage???

As I read somewhere yesterday, it hasn't been a good week for the Republicans...

DeLay is indicted. Frist is investigated. Now, I. Lewis Libby, a high ranking official close to the Vice President, is named as source in the Palme (sp?) matter for which a NY Times reporter went to prison for two months to protect him.

As a Moderate Independent I sit and watch posters, whom I won't name because we all know who they are, jump on every ridiculous article and/or rumor that has anything to do with any Liberal or Democrat and just shake my head an wonder...

Where's the outrage for the other side?

Innocent until proven guilty you say? Absolutely. But that goes both ways as well.

I'm still reading stuff about the others.

I don't like any politicians who are just bad people.

I think both sides are full of sh*t, and don't really care to read about any of the crap they are pulling.

DA, I'm outraged but I tend to refrain from posting much about politics here because I don't really see the point. I heard a report on NPR this morning about what the Republicans in the House are trying to do to the Endangered Species Act and I am LIVID -- but you know, I have my opinion and arguing about it isn't going to change my mind or anybody else's, you know?

BTW, this is only relevant to CO residents, but TABOR is something else that makes me livid. Vote "yes" on Referenda C & D!

And yes, in America, it is innocent until proven guilty. You obviously need no reminder as you've already posted this. When we have convictions or strong evidence suggesting something, then it's a different matter.

Right now everything is at such a preliminary stage that nothing is known. There is a prosecutor with an awful reputation involved. If people had to hate a politician I doubt they'd have much trouble, but that complicates things.

And Libby? Well actually Libby was named because he told the reporter that she should testify. Great ethics if you ask me. But maybe others would rather he not have helped her out.

And what are these cases that others were outraged about before?

By the way we just sat a Supreme Court Justice in such a short amount of time that Harry the Dem looked like a jailhouse wife. Funny how some complained that they didn't know enough about him and now such a young man will serve for so long as the chief justice. There isn't a single leader for the Dems and there is massive infighting between the freaks on the left (moveon.org) and the centrists (Clinton) that it will involve a total combustion of the Republican party before they benefit to such a high extent.

And at the end of the day, it's the game of politics. Aside from the issues which the Dems have no solutions to, they can't play the game. This week is their best week and I will bet you a big mac that it still won't help them much.

Yeah, I think I'm moderate.

I said I wouldn't name names -- and I won't. There are a number of posters who jump with both feet on anything even slightly detrimental to anyone left of Atilla The Hun -- including moderates.

Valkyrie, couldn't agree more with you on C&D. I don't think you were here yet when Tabor passed. What a cluster...

After you're outraged at everything that has gone on over the past few years, you become resigned to the fact that you just have to somehow get through the next 3 years and pray a whole lot that the Constitution will still be a valid document. I will express my outrage at the polls, but until then, I don't think that insulting people will change anything (ie. we're feeling helpless and hopeless).

I feel that many of the GCers who take up the case against the libs, dems, abortionists, unions, etc. are really the "equal time".

The mass media (newspapers, TV, NPR, Time, Newsweek, US News, etc.) have become the media wing of the Democratic party - freely and continually repeating everything that the dems, abortionists, unions, etc. spout.

Now, freely and continually repeating everything might be acceptable, if any other side or any critical analysis was included.

They allow Ted Kennedy to spout moral judgements condeming Bennett, but never mention the girl that died in TK's back seat while he left the scene to compose his alibi. How can he comment legitimately on morals?

(Latest Chappaquidick rumor: Mary Jo was passed out in the back seat, and unknowingly Kennedy and another girl got into the front seat to drive to a some secluded place. Didn't know until the car was pulled out that Mary Jo was there.)

Please provide a cite to instances of abortionists spouting something on the news. I can think of one instance of an abortion doctor being interviewed on a news program. That was months ago and in response to various death threats he received from anti-abortion crazies.

It works both ways on this site - I sit and watch posters on the left jump on anything that even remotely looks like it could hurt the right.

One of the things that upsets me about this site is this talk that it's only the Republicans, only the conservatives who jump on other people. It's like there hasn't been any liberal/Democrat/whoever who hasn't crossed the line in their posts.

Something that makes me feel better is that there are some really intelligent people on all sides (conservative/liberal/moderate). There is enough good discussion to make it easier to wade through all the b.s. At the end of day people will just have to agree to disagree.

I will admit that there are Republicans/conservatives/whoever who have crossed the line with posts. There's not doubt that that has happened. However, it has happened on the other side as well, and to ignore that fact just doesn't make sense to me.
