History
While there are other award sites which offer awards of recognition to bloggers in a myriad of categories, these sites often exclude recognition of Black weblogs and Black bloggers year after year. The Black Weblog Awards were started in 2005 to recognize and promote Black Weblogs and Black bloggers.
Rules
The rules for the Black Weblog Awards are mainly for clarity and voting purposes. Please contact us if you have any questions.
* Any page which contains dated entries will be considered a "blog" or "weblog", excluding message boards.
* A "Black weblog" or "Black blog" is a page which contains dated entries and is written by a Black person. Subject matter, except where specified in a particular voting category, is irrelevant.
* Weblogs which have not been updated since January 1, 2005 are ineligible for the Black Weblog Awards.
Voting
* Casting ballots for the Black Weblog Awards can only be done via the BlackWeblogAwards.com website. Any ballots received which have not come directly from the BlackWeblogAwards.com website will not be counted.
* E-mail addresses are required to vote. You must use a valid e-mail address; invalid e-mail addresses (i.e.,
spam@nospam.com) provided on ballots will not be counted; the system does let us know if the addresses provided are valid!
* URLs are required as well as website names. Both must be included. If one or the other is provided, the ballot will not be counted.
* Only one weblog can be submitted per ballot. Ballots with more than one weblog named will not be counted.
* For any weblog submitted, it must be nominated for at least one (1) category.
* A weblog can be nominated for any number of categories so long as they fit in the category where they are nominated. This is up to the discretion of the Black Weblog Awards staff.
* No bots! If we find ballots submitted in an unusual frequency by voters, they will not be counted.
* You may not vote for your own weblog.
* Voting will begin on August 1, 2005 at 8:00am EDT and close on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 5:00pm EDT. Ballots received before the start date and time or after the end date and time will not be counted. Winners will be announced on Saturday, September 3, 2005.
Prizes
Bragging rights are nice, but prizes are better! Winners of the Black Weblog Awards for certain categories will receive prizes. Stay tuned for more information. If you would like to contribute something for any of the Black Weblog Awards winners, please submit a comment.
(Note from Senusret I: I could care less about a prize, I just really want to win. Yay for a competitive spirit!)
